Hi there…..by the time you read this I will be happily waltzing the fabled? aisles of Brimfield, hailed as the worlds largest antiques fair with over 6000 vendors eagerly searching for that treasure that’s screaming “come to mama”.
I am not going to say it’s the world’s most fashionable place….let’s just say basic capris and Jack Rogers would be making a serious fashion statement of almost epic proportions,? but it’s a fun? if not exhausting day. And you never know what you might find… there are some real treasures amongst a lot of junk, plenty of very “unusual artsy” types of people make for an entertaining trip as we all know that the antiques world can be a very “colorful” one!
I go every year with one of my closest friends and we make a long day of it…..it always ensures a fun “day trip” and promises the extra bonus of leaving us with extra sore feet from the miles and miles of walking.? But we have made friends with certain dealers and meet up with new and old friends alike and it’s a day we both look forward to, so you can be sure I will be be back with the highlights and hopefully a few treasures.
I am always on the prowl for beautiful art, old sterling, anything Royal Crown Derby, Limoges or Herend (though there is an embargo against any more china coming through these doors lol) and anything else that might strike my fancy:)
I will be sure my trusty little iPhone will be at my side at all times to capture those special moments of divine inspiration.
In case you missed my previous excursions to Brimfield you might find these previous posts amusing…..
My first and most entertaining trip as seen through the eyes of a “newbie”- (this post had been erased when I switched my blog from blogger but was recently found, was so happy)!
I will be sure to let you know all about my little expedition.? Enjoy your day and hope you have a fabulous weekend. What’s on your agenda? Anyone watching the US Open? We were there on Thursday night up close and personal……..what a match between Federer and Monfils!
Talk about nail biting until the very end. An epic match with two warriors,? it was almost hard to watch as I wanted it so badly for both of them. Oh well……that’s why they call it a competition as my husband likes to remind me:) Happy weekend!
When I lived in Massachusetts, we made the pilgrimage. It was SO GREAT to amble through all the aisles….unfortunately, we were poor students those days and could not buy a thing! But to see your photos surely brings up great memories of walking through villages, fields and humble streets in our beloved New England.
OMG I would go crazy at Brimfield, always wanted to go!
Jealous you got to see the tennis match. I watched and got so upset about the way my boy Roger was playing I turned the TV off at the beginning of the third set. I am hoping some channel shows a repeat of the game this weekend.
Have a happy weekend, can’t wait to see what you bring home. Funny that same china embargo rules in my house also!
Tina we are leaving later today for the finals and can’t wait, its an annual tradition, we meet my parents for every US Open Final and have I think for the last 8 or 9 years. That match you saw was ridiculous. I was rooting for Monfils only because its fun to see a newcomer/underdog win and Federer has won plenty but he proved he is still the one to beat.
Have fun at Brimfield, never been but my sister goes on occasion as she is a collector and lives for the thrill of the hunt. Hope you find that special treasure you are after, bet you will be the best dressed there:-)
A real “treasure hunt” the fun part is the hunt and the find.
The adrenalin runs high!!
Now I am moving to a house with an entirely different lay out
I am asking myself “where did all of this stuff come from”?
My daughter in law doesn’t have the same interest in china, silver. and
crystal.
Now I am choosing my favorites to make the move.
“Estate Sales” the kids didnt want it 🙁
Have fun!
Being from the West Coast we made a trip of it!! a group of girls and I went we had a blast!! We had a box up all our goodies and there was a truck there the driver became our best friend and he drove our stuff out west!! When he got to San Diego he needed a place to shower and have dinner.. So I called my husband and said guess who’s coming to dinner? Hope you find some real goodies!! We did!!
Now we are watching a real Nailbite… USC versus Stanford… So our family is divided half-and-half!!
Have a great weekend.. I am jealous!!
Gayle
