Hi there, woke to frost on the ground and cars…one step closer to snow! I hope you are having a great weekend. Mine has been quite nice , a wonderful dinner and drinks with friends last night in NYC and today we are heading back into NYC trip to actually do a little holiday shopping, there is nothing like the energy of the city this time of year. Even made some progress on my holiday decorating around the house, slow and steady:)
By all accounts….a good one. The days are ticking by awfully quick….and before we know it, Christmas will be here. This year we will be out of town which in some ways makes me sad, but it also gives me a little break this year:) As I do every Sunday, I share with you seven things that got my attention his week. So? here we go….
1.LG DESIGNS. One of my sponsors, LG Designs has the most wonderful custom bulletins boards and pillows. I was so thrilled when Christmas came early this week and I received this most beautiful navy velvet holiday pillow in the mail! Just love it…and immediately put it on a favorite chair in my library for a little holiday cheer. LG Designs is a fantastic resource for unique and beautiful holiday gifts. Love the idea of giving a custom bulletin board as a holiday gift.? Click here to visit LG Designs.
Here is the beautiful navy velvet “Noel” pillow that I put on a chair in the library, actually tried it on two chairs there and love it equally on both-
And some other beautiful items from LG Designs….
2. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Oh boy so much to love this week….with the holidays in full? gear of course there is a healthy dose of holiday magic included in this round up of amazing inspiration!
3. DOWNY! You heard right….as in that product we all know and love. Run do not walk to get their newest LIFE CHANGING product, “Wrinkle Releaser” This stuff rocks and is like magic in a bottle……I was quite excited when I got this amazing Downy “care package” in the mail and even more excited when I saw the results!
Basically it gets out even the most stubborn wrinkles, great for travel, college kids, and just about anyone who hates ironing (wouldn’t that be everyone)…its AWESOME, people are literally retiring their irons and ironing boards because if this life changing product in a bottle:)
And you will never guess who confiscated and proudly wears the incredible soft (naturally it’s Downy afterall ) t shirt that came in my care package….my very own Renaissance man, my son…..
4.? REMARKABLE PEOPLE. I am always so inspired by those who give their lives to a greater cause than themselves. Often these people have had to overcome deeply personal or life changing tragedies? which have served as a catalyst to make a difference. There are so many untold stories, and every time I read one I am both deeply motivated to do something and moved to tears by the unselfishness and inspiration of these incredible people.
I love that CNN has sought out special people whose works might otherwise go unnoticed. Tonight I will be tuning in to CNN tonight (6pm EST)? as an all star tribute is given to 10 remarkable people and the CNN Hero of the year is selected. Awe inspiring!
5. MAGNOLIA AND JUNIPER FOR MY HOLIDAY DECOR. So I ordered magnolia leaves from a local wholesaler, what I did not know was that I was ordering truly a lifetime supply:) I got the biggest box of jam packed magnolia leaves that you can imagine. So my theme was set…magnolia everywhere:) For the next 10 years lol.
I am just starting to decorate, I must admit not quite feeling the spirit this year with my mother in law passing away just a few months ago and my dear friends son…..there is a certain feeling of melancholy that I cannot shake.
But I will march on and of course put my up tree and do my decorating, maybe not quite “the whole 9 yards” as we will be in VA for Christmas but I will be sure my house looks beautifully festive one way or another!
A number of you emailed me about getting sugar cones, they do make holiday decorating so easy!? I get them wholesale by the box (approx 20-28 cones per box) If you want to order a box email me theenchantedhome@gmail.com
And check out this wreath I am just finishing…..magnolia leaves and mini ginger jars. See…blue and white really does have a place in Christmas decor!
6. VERY FUNNY VIDEO ON FRENCH GIRLS VS. AMERICAN Camille Rowe from Vogue made this adorable and spot on video about how American girls vs French girls interact on a daily basis. And how true it is:)
7. A PICTURE PERFECT CHRISTMAS TOWN . I am nostalgic and always say I was definitely was born in the wrong era. To me a perfect world would be ensconced in a small and charming town (but it has to have many upscale shops and incredible restaurants:) and technology can only be used certain days and at Christmas time, it would? come to life and literally turn into a fairy tale.
Well, the truth is some towns really are this way (but you can use technology 24/7 haha) and Woodstock Vermont at Christmas is pretty darn close to a fairy tale. I was there about 8 years ago right before Christmas? and it was in one word, magical. Just look at this place…..
Kind of has me dreaming of a white Christmas! Anything here excite you? Whats new in your corner of the world? Getting into the Christmas spirit yet? It is out in full force and I suspect any day now we will start seeing Valentines Day cards coming out:) I like to take things nice and slow, the world is moving too fast and needs to take it down a notch!

Loved all of the features on your blog post this morning. And the pic of your son…..so handsome, even when not really trying. And that wreath you are making…..gorgeous. Are those little urns on your shop? Have a beautiful week!
I understand Tina about feeling a bit melancholy this season. I am so sorry about your mother-in-law. I lost my father in January, two uncles in less than 2 months after that, my mother-in-law passed away last month and my mother has cancer. It has certainly been a year of loss for so many of us. Sometimes I wonder how our ancestors lived through so much tragedy with death always at the door when there were no modern medical marvels. I am happy that I have had my family for as long as I have. I must admit even though we know this is a part of life it still feels a bit frightening and disconcerting to experience losing the ones we love and have always been there for us and to have fewer people in the world that know us and love us in the way only a family can. It makes me want to do something special for someone who is lonely this season. We have always tried to do something in season’s past but maybe this season with a little extra empathy. ..You have given me a wonderful destination to think of visiting this winter with my sweet husband. I haven’t been “up north” in quite a while. I used to be a flight attendant and flew there regularly. Woodstock, Vermont looks so picturesque. Reminds me of my hometown in Marietta, GA but the snow makes it extra special.
My favourite post is “Seven on Sunday”. So much to see and explore.
I went through Vermont on a motorcycle in the fall of 1998. It was so picturesque. Love, love the covered bridges! So much so, that I painted one and it on the wall in my livingroom. Christmas there would be romantic.
Your son is gorgeous! I have two daughters I’m looking to marry off?lol. And I know what you mean about Christmas decorating. I used to go all out and this year for the first time I left half of my decorations in storage. I am decorating on a smaller scale but more elegant. And I love, love your sugar cones and magnolia branches?.so chic! And your wreath?the ribbon is beautiful and those little ginger jars are so you. Love your post today (well every day, really)!
First of all, I must comment on your model. Such a handsome young man!! If Downey saw that pic, I’m sure they would use that pic in their ads. Love all your instagrams and house looks stunning! Have a great week!
It seems as if Christmas is coming up too quickly this year. My decorating is a week behind. Regarding Woodstock, Vt, their Wassail Weekend is Dec 11-13, with the main events taking place on Saturday; including the parade. My hubby and I try to make it every year, (we live in NH easy to get to) but there is so much to do up here during the Christmas season, we sometimes miss it. It is a wonderful time and yes, the town is a perfect little village, with a dash of sophistication thrown in. H.F. Gillingham and Sons is a combination of general store and gourmet shop.. wonderful place to shop!
Just back from dinner in the city with friends in from out of town…probably passed you on the Triboro! I do love the energy in the city this time of year.
Always love your 7 on Sunday…but tickled to see my front door included in your Instagrams. Thank you!!! My outside is done and my inside is “almost” done. I just keep adding. LOVE that Noel pillow – LG is so amazing! And, magnolia. You know I’m a huge fan.
Your son is so handsome….love that he snagged the shirt. Getting myself some of the Downey asap!
Here’s to another fun holiday week!
xoxo Elizabeth
Tina – I love the wreath with the little ginger jars. I’ve looked everywhere online and can’t find the ginger jars anywhere. Frontgate has sold out of them. Help! Where can I find them?
