Good Tuesday morning! I cannot believe we are on chapter 34. I love that you have been with me every step of the way from the first post where I announced we purchased land in PB. And now, here we are approaching the final home stretch. I was there last week and had such an amazing few days. First the weather was a perfect “10”, high 70’s, breezy and sunny…it does not get any better. We got around mostly on bike (went with a very good friend) and it was so hard to leave, I must admit. Only thing I didn’t love was coming home with a zillion bug bites…..
The highlight was getting the “crown jewel” delivered and installed and that would be my incredible magnificent hood. It was the hood of my dreams and watching it cone to life was one of the all time highlights of this entire building experience.
On top of that, getting to meet Cindy Mullen, the “countess of hoods” as I affectionately call her of Classic Custom Metal Workswith two of her closest friends (and incidentally long time followers of The Enchanted home) was a huge huge perk. They were so lovely and warm, and we had such a great afternoon together. A definite highlight of this entire experience.
So as I always do I share the latest with you, there is normally a subject to discuss after but as there are so many progress pics, this is all about progress today. I will be back in a week or two with even more progress because right now things are going fast and furiously. Without further ado, here we go-
_____________
Absolutely LOVE the floor, it was the perfect color, we held our breath until it was done:)
Back stair/entry….dirty but still pretty!
The hardware for the doors is stunning looks like unlacquered brass which I love
Exciting to see my bathroom room, installed the molding for the partitioned mirror panel above sink
Kitchen and some bath hardware was starting to get installed
The pantry getting the finished moldings done, just love the pale blue lacaquer, so happy I did this
The marble we were so lucky to find, was one of the prettiest slabs of Calcutta Gold I have seen in a long time, really liking this thick simple edge
Had fun starting to play with hardware
Some of the ones I selected-
The back patio is basically done, waiting on our fans and furniture (and my planters)!
The shiplac has been painted, we used Sherwin William’s Alabaster, this is a really great color
The main stair just waiting on the railing, love the late day sun effect
“The hood”
Even watching it get uncrated was exciting!
I could already see this was a sheer work of art
Ta dah! And what a beauty she is!
The next day after the installation, seeing it up was incredibly thrilling
Surpassed my expectations in every way….most definitely my “dream hood”
The quality, attention to detail is superb thanks to Classic Custom Metal Works!
And one of Cindy’s friends, Cecilia (also a reader/customer) who was so thoughtful and talented, made this beautiful watercolor for me as a memento of this exciting day-
MY TREASURED RESOURCES THAT I CANNOT RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH! (CLICK ON NAMES TO VISIT THE SITE)
Lots of good things happening over there, it’s been a experience doing this from afar, though we were hoping to be in late 2017, all good things come to those who wait, right? With luck it will be a wrap late March, that is the plan at least for now. Crossing my fingers. It was such fun to see everything in person and seeing that hood still has me smiling:) Thanks for following along, until next time…..
Fabulous house!!! What an incredible job you’ve done! Tina, the “patio” is to die for, but darlin, down south we call that a porch 🙂 ENJOY and buy a gallon of bug spray!
The hood truly is a work of art. It blew my mind! Now I can’t wait to see the railing installed. Your taste is exquisite an such an inspiration, Tina. Thank you! Many happy years in your SC home. May it be soon be filled with the pitter patter of little feet – After a wedding of course. How’s that going? Ha ha.. Enjoy!!
Looks terrific. Could you post any pictures and details about the fans you selected for the porch. We need two fans for the loggia at our house and can’t find something I like. If you had fans installed at your main house in the loggia that info maybe wonderful as well since we are in VA and our house is a french style. Thanks, Angie
Tina, you will be sooo thankful you opted for a screened in porch…as you already know with your million bug bites!! We spend lots of time on ours here in North Carolina…enjoy and keep the updates and pictures coming! You are an inspiration!
We just finished a kitchen remodel last winter and I remember the stage where painters tape was used for make shift handles for the doors and cabinets until the hardware was installed. We lingered in that stage for quite a while as I couldn’t decide on the hardware…ha ha. So worth the wait though! Your home looks gorgeous and it won’t be long before you will be finished and enjoying it! Wonderful design and finish choices!
Simply amazing! So much to love here I scrolled up and down several times!
Tina that hood is to die for- I can u sweat and why you were so elated.
All your choices are just so pretty and classic but fresh and updated. Palmetto bluff is a very special place.
Thanks for sharing all the beauty!
Beautiful details, loving the shiplap. Pantry cabinets lovely in the pale blue lacquer, and the hood is stunning! You’re going to love that porch when the critters really start coming out at dusk!
Awesome, “The Hood” is spectacular! Absolutely love the kitchen, those cabinet, counter tops and back splash are beautiful. The patio is beautiful, I can imagine yourself enjoying a morning cup of JAVA, enjoying those beautiful views. Exciting, can’t wait to see it ALL complete, with your many talents. Happy Tuesday, make it a great day!
Just love seeing this progress, just gorgeous, I really love every single decision you have made. The hood, kitchen and blue lacquered cabinets are so pretty (your bathroom too). I can see why you were so excited over “the hood”. Thanks for sharing your sources, we are building a home in Atlanta and I have made note of several of your sources, your endorsement goes a long way with me.
Brava to you Tina, I know it’s a lot of work but look at the results!
Your were right about the tiled wall in the kitchen. I wasn’t to sure about it until the good and cabinets were installed. Now I love it. Looks amazing!
Gorgeous hood, elegant artwork. The beautiful kitchen tile is grabbing my attention. Love that it covers the walls. Also becoming a fan of shiplap, ala Fixer Upper, which is now being incorporated everywhere for a cozy, clean look. Alabaster is a wonderful color, I agree. Wishing you many future blessings and happy times in PB. This is such a gorgeous home, Tina. Gather in the family and create lasting memories.
Love your bathroom cabinet doors-I used that door for my kitchen cabinets!
Can you post more info on your wood floor? We must replace our floors and are searching…
Thanks! You are really at the exciting stage when everything starts coming together!
So much to comment on, love it all. The hood is so beautiful, love that finish of the metal with the subtle accents of the toned down brass.
The kitchen and pantry cabinetry is just beautiful. I love that you kept the tile gong all the way, up seeing it with the countertops and backsplash confirms you were right to wait.
I would love to know the color of the wood floor and cant wait to see your stair railings. I hope you will share your plumbing choices as I love all the ones you chose. Great job Tina, I am sure you will be very happy there, it is a beautiful spot.
The tile adjacent to the hood is gorgeous. I called your source this afternoon and thanks to you, I will be using it in my new kitchen. Your taste is the perfect balance of everything. Many thanks for sharing.
Your home is amazing! So much time and thought, that has come together in the best way. Can’t wait to see it furnished! Love your kitchen hood, did you also do a hood for outdoor kitchen? Looks like shiplap.
Oh my goodness, Tina. That hood is SIMPLY STUNNING. A true statement piece. Your home is lovely. Can’t WAIT for the full tour when your PB home is done and the furniture is in place. You are lucky I don’t live closer . . . I really would invite myself over for an in person tour LOL!! Thank you so much for sharing the journey with your readers. As I’ve stated before, your life could not be more different than mine, but I love seeing your world through your blog. Blessings from Missouri!!!
Tina- your marble tile to the ceiling turned out beautiful. In fact it has the same effect a wallpaper would have and grounds the upper cabinet. Hope you are happy with it after all.
Hi Your home really is like a dream, oh how I would love to move and start fresh!!! We are thinking about refinishing our floors they were natural stain but have turned a really off yellow just awful with my decor. Would you mind sharing the stain you used for your hardwoods? Thanks so much!
You asked about the tile to the ceiling in the kitchen at one point, and I was one who was not sure about it, but seeing the tile as a backdrop for the magnificent hood is spectacular! Yes, the hood is a true jewel of a statement so you must ecstatic! Once again, you have created another beautiful home that I want to see in person. I think you should have an open house when you are finished, perhaps late this summer or in the fall.
P.S. You’ll be happy to have a screened in porch to keep those nasty tiny bugs out. I moved to Charleston 3 years ago and they are horrible in the spring.
