****A NOTE TO ALL WHO ORDERED CAKE DOMES– the actual cake domes arrived here on Thurs however the cake plate is still getting the FDA approvals necessary to release them. Sorry for the delay, with the tariff situation everything is super backed up, I am being told that by Monday/Tuesday of next week we will have them and will ship them out immediately! I promise they are worth the wait****
****FOR MANY WHO HAVE ASKED ABOUT OUR PORCELAIN PRESALE- We were going to have it this week but have a lot happening in our warehouse this week with things coming in, so we are going to hold it early next week, Monday or Tuesday****
Hello, I cannot believe this is the 50th Bluff Diary post! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend. Crazy that Memorial Day is now behind us! I was lucky enough to be in PB for about 5 blissful days between going back and froth to Duke for my niece (a post on this is upcoming). The weather was amazing, if not summer like. But most days we had a wonderful breeze, on top of bright blue skies and non stop sunshine…works for me!
The house is pretty much complete however I continue to add small things here and there. There are only a few pieces of furniture I still need- an ottoman for my bathroom, a chair and ottoman for my bedroom, a chest for the back hall and a chest or console for upstairs landing. A number of accessories still needed but every time I go I do a little bit at a time, and eventually it will get done, I am not stressing.
Not a lot to share on that front but this is just an overview of my visit with some pretty scenic pictures thrown in along with some food and beverage easy peasy recommendations. Hope you enjoy….

Home sweet home! Love walking into this light filled airy refuge:)
The big patio is a favorite place to spend mornings and afternoons.
Funny, never took any night shots!
One of the first things I do when I go there is pickup fresh flowers from the local market, just makes it feel like officially home:)
My all time favorite sandwich, though I almost never eat sandwiches- a fresh lightly toasted baguette, juicy ripe tomatoes with sea salt, fresh basil (I use a lot), fresh mozzarella, a drizzle of olive oil and you have the most delicious sandwich!
Palmetto Bluff looked very festive with the American Flag every where and the place was jumping over Memorial Day weekend
I think the Montage was fully occupied
Great and easy cocktail alert! This is soo good, very refreshing and easy. I get sparkling pink grapefruit from Whole Foods, fresh cut lime, a bottle of Kettle One grapefruit and rose. Fill each glass to the top with ice, and pour (I am not a big drinker so normally do 3 parts Perrier or the Italian soda with one part vodka and add a twist of lime) Your guests will love it!
And it pairs well with my yummy brushetta!
I bike to one of the many pools (this one right near our house is my favorite) I would go at 6pm when there was only 1 or 2 people still there, and it was the most relaxing hour of the day by far!
Natural beauty at every turn, this is the bike path I use almost every aftrernoon
Basil tip- Normally when we buy big clusters of basil, we don’t use it all. So I have read many different ways to preserve it. Found this to be the best, wash it very well. Use paper towel to absorb moisture. Pick apart the leaves and place flat in a bag, make sure ALL air is out of the bag then seal tight. Put in freezer, that’s it! When you need basil, you just take as many frozen leaves as you need and you will shocked at how fresh it looks when it thaws in minutes, surprisingly retains its bright green color!
(Apparently the key is making sure no air is in the freezer bag)
Bikes and Palmetto Bluff go together like white and rice:)
An amazing peach ice cream food hack! No one needs to know you didn’t churn this yourself:) Had a bunch of fresh peaches that were super ripe, so quickly peeled them and cut them in small pieces. Got a pint of Haagen Daaz vanilla (is there any other)?
Gently folded the fresh peaches into the ice cream until well blended with a wooden spoon. Put back in freezer for about 15 minutes then serve. Sit back and wait for everyone to ooh and ahh:) Loved serving this nostalgic feeling dessert.
Needless to say this was a big heavenly delicious hit!
Love the view from my kitchen window, so charming to see people gliding by on their little boats
Went to the newly opened Canoe Club, I thought this salad was so pretty.
And our view on the porch while having dinner at the Canoe Club wasn’t too shabby either.
I must say I have seen the prettiest sunsets there, I always am sure to have my phone ready around sunset, as I don’t want to miss a single one!
And that is a wrap up of my time in beautiful Palmetto Bluff. Spending time there never gets old, just wish I got to do it more often! If you have the chance to go, by all means you should. It’s a great place to go for a weekend or long weekend.
To me, the best times are Sept-May. June, July and August it is hot but mostly humid. Doesn’t really get much hotter than a hot NY summer day but the humidity can get intense and I get cranky when my hair is not happy! Ironically it is still a very popular time to visit, with kids being out of school and summer breaks, etc…..
Anywho, thanks for stopping in. Wishing everyone a fantastic day and a great first week of summer! Until next time……
Palmetto Bluffs is on my short list for buying a home. I was wondering if you’ve seen many alligators around? I know it sits on water and, in South Carolina, they can become a problem. We have two dogs so it is a concern.
Thank-you!
About the alligators at Palmetto Bluff, when we were there we saw the biggest one I had ever seen outside of a zoo, it must have been well over 400 pounds. I’m in Hilton Head a lot and they have had some sad events happen with attacks the last couple of years. I was surprised to see such a big one in PB. For some reason, I thought wildlife services came and got them if they got over a certain size, but not sure. My husband and I were kayaking and it was a little scary. The workers on the shore stopped and were just watching it. Yikes! Never take your dog near them. They hide in the water and can move very, very fast. I started taking the Island Packet newspaper since we are in HHI so much and I was amazed at all the alligator news and photos. I stopped taking it because I don’t want to know!!! Sea Pines is my favorite vacation spot and I don’t want the alligator news to ruin it for me. To me they are Leviathan!
Your house seems cozier and more home-like every trip and those sunsets! Wow! I am curious, though. I noticed televisions here and there, including the porch. Does anyone watch out there? The scenery is pretty tough competition.
Beautiful post !! I loved looking at everything you had on there today!! Funny, but I’m going away for 2 weeks and going to pick and freeze my basil!!
The Salad bowl made from a small round bread looks amazingly delicious!!
I always enjoy looking at your PB pics! The tomato/basil/mozzarella sandwich is also one of my favorites, and who doesn’t LOVE bruschetta!? The view of the water and sunsets are so beautiful that I may share with an artist friend. They would all make beautiful paintings!
I so love Palmetto Bluff…truly a beautiful Southern town with the most wonderful charm and grace. Would you be able to share the color of your shutters?….I am painting the shutters a soft blue in our future home and would love to know what color/brand of the paint. Leaning toward SW Rest Assured. You have created a most beautiful coastal home!!
Your house is so beautiful that I would have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to get me to leave. The serenity it projects is palpable, right through the pictures,
Your home is beautiful!! I would love to know the source for your sofa table and the wicker vases on the table. Does anyone know if the table information is in another Bluff Diary?? Thank you ☺️
