Hello everyone, hope this finds you doing well. I cannot get over that it’s the Wednesday before Christmas. I have done minimal decorating and almost no gift buying but just last night finally did some online shopping and hoping everything shows up on time, fingers are crossed because I have no desire to go out and brave the crowds and overflowing parking lots.
This year is very very different for me. Just not in the spirit however seeing all of these incredible pictures from both round one and two definitely gave me a much needed holiday lift, so thank you for that.
So now we move along to round 2. Ready to vote for your three favorites? Here we go……

Sometimes we all need a quiet Christmas! We are having one at our cottage in Ireland! Had to get away
from any family dramas. As this will most likely be our first and last Christmas here so glad we did it!
I was able to decorate with greens from our property. We even cut a Charlie Brown table top tree!
I happened to overhear a neighbor tell our wonderful Post Master that he is entitled to not feel like celebrating Christmas as his father had passed this summer and his mother was having a very difficult time. I remember how difficult the 9-hr drive home to Toronto was to spend that first Christmas with family without our Mom.
I also heard some very good advice on NPR this week: our loved ones only wanted the best for us, and would want us to embrace the holidays, enjoy those who are still with us and remember the wonderful time we spent together. The holidays are going to be bittersweet. I dealt with my grief by preparing all of my Mom’s special holiday food, appetizers and desserts, so in a small way, she was still with us at the table.
I am inspired by the wonderful photos you have received – and would love to know (if she doesn’t mind sharing) – where those sweet primitive bear & Santa figures in #6 came from?!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday Season!
BTW, Kathleen: do you ever rent out your cottage in Ireland?
thinking of you and your family over the Holiday season…. seeing pictures of your mom are just so so beautiful… thank you for sharing and know she is interweaved into your soul always
