I have had a great and chock full weekend. A Christmas party, went into the city to see a dear friend from out of town and had a beautiful pre birthday dinner with a group of special friends. Today, is a day to hopefully finish my Chrsitmas tree then we are invited to someones house for a late lunch. Tonight early to bed and Yellowstone!

Lots are wondering about my blog. There is a full explanation below as well as how to access below. The blog is still very much alive and well, and will be for a long long time. Explanation is below!

Onwards to my post this Sunday…..

1 JUST ARRIVED! We just got in an enormous and most spectacular shipment of chinoiserie tole. By far the prettiest collection we have done yet! I am extremely proud of this collection. Instead of doing an arrival sale,  the entire collection will be on sale online later this week. Stay tuned...

2 ONE FABULOUS HOUSE TOUR I so enjoyed this tour, one of my favorites in a long time Love their classy, beautiful and elegant style. Owning an old stately home ourselves, this gives me renewed excitement for our own project. So beautifully done.

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST What a pretty and festive roundup! From now till Christmas, you will be seeing lots and lots of holiday inspired Instagrams on these Sunday posts…

4 A DELICIOUS AND FESTIVE SALAD This salad is so so good and is a very elegant salad to set on the table! I found it easy to make and it’s bursting with flavor. I tried this for the first time so did half the recipe and it was an instant winner. I will likely be making this for a luncheon I have coming up soon. If serving as a side dish,  this would be good for 2-3 people.

Heres what you need-

  • 1/3 cup walnuts
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 pears
  • 2 1/2 cup arugula
  • 2 tbsp dried cranberries
  • olive oil, extra virgin, to taste
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, shaved
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

Salad Dressing

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp seeded mustard
  • salt, to taste

To make

  • Add walnuts, maple syrup and a pinch of salt in a small fry pan and fry over medium-high heat.
  • Stir frequently until syrup is caramelized and walnuts have gained a golden color. This will take approximately about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from fry pan and let the candied walnuts cool down.
  • Cut pear in half lengthwise, remove core and then thinly slice.
  • Add sliced pear into a bowl of salted water to stop oxidization. ( I did not do this as everything was prepared right when we were to eat it)
  • Wash arugula and shake dry.
  • In your serving platter add arugula, cranberries and walnuts and at this point you can season with salt and pepper
  • Pour over dressing and place the thinly slice pears all round, top with remaining walnuts or cranberries
  • Finally add a generous helping of shaved Parmesan cheese on top, and you can drizzle a little olive oil on top if you wish

5 ABOUT MY BLOG I am first,  thrilled that so many of you have provided such wonderful feedback about our new site, we are loving it too:) The only remaining piece still not quite in place is my blog. Many of you have asked where it is!

Its still there but due to the size of the site (nearly 10 years of blog posts) we are figuring things out as to where/how to put it on our new site. Eventually it will be on our new site but for now you can still visit the blog including all my old posts till way back when!  Here is the website address to visit. I love referring back to old posts too so don’t you worry its not going anywhere!

Right now on the new site, if you scroll down on home page, you will see the last four blogs. We have not yet imported all of them but expect to have this done in the next week. Will keep you posted! As long as I have working fingers to type, this blog remains!

The website is wp.enchantedhome.com/blog/

6 NAD This is a real buzz word around town right now. Admittedly before it became so widely discussed, I didn’t exactly know it was. Since then I have been doing a little research.  I was at a luncheon a few weeks ago and I got around to speaking to a functional nurse who was kind enough to tell us all about it and I was sold.

She said you have to be really careful about what and where you buy it from. She said one of the ones that she recommends is made in the U.S.A., made in a GMP facility (regulated by the FDA) and third party tested. So yours truly has ordered what she recommended! There are a lot of dupes out there, but the original Rues Research. She said be very careful when researching so I ordered my first bottle from the site directly. I am curious to see what all the fuss is about!

Stay tuned I will be happy to share once I get it and start using it, if I feel more energetic, more clear headed, skin starts glowing and I am reversing in age, you will be sure to hear about it, haha !

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY I did something I really don’t like doing the other day,  I went to the mall. I think I would rather go to the dentist than the mall.  I just don’t like malls, they totally overwhelm me and are just too much to take in, over stimulation especially around the holidays.  I like going into smaller stores or a dept store. However I was in search of a gift and it required a trip to one of our local malls. I braced myself for hordes of frantic Christmas shoppers and was very pleasantly surprised to see the mall not quite empty, but FAR less crowded that what I had expected.

It was actually shocking. Does this mean malls are becoming a relic of the past and more people are shopping on line? It must, I mean this just 2 days ago, less than 3 weeks before Christmas. The mall should have been teaming with lines of people. It was really surprising but for me a pleasant one!  The few gifts I have bought so far (only 4 and all for Phillip) were in person but I will be doing my fair share of ordering online. Curious if you have seen the same trend where you are and if you do most of your shopping online or in person?

The mall question… many upper end retailers such as Williams -Sonoma, Restoration Hardware, West Elm have vacated our local mall and have relocated to outdoor venues. This is in addition to anchor stores ,such as Saks ,closing. Do you hear the bells tolling? It’s for American malls!

I agree with you about malls. I used to do my shopping at malls, but now find myself ordering online so I don’t have to deal with the hassle, etc.

I cannot wait to try that salad because it sounds yummy but also so seasonal with the pears and cranberries! Thank you for sharing the recipe.

I love old homes so the Schumacher home tour was a gem. I love your blog and look forward to each new post. Merry Christmas.

I love all of the zinsrsgram photos because you let us know about things
we wouldn’t otherwise be aware and I really appreciate that!

The salad looks delicious! I will give it a try next week at my dinner party. Thank you for a new salad recipe!

Malls must be getting desperate as the “good” stores have vacated and lower quality stores that target younger people are moving in. There’s also a security concern – last year there was a shooting inside the mall in our city. Many shoppers are now going on line and to smaller, local stores.
I enjoy your home tour videos since they tend to be more traditional in style. We own a Georgian colonial and it warms my heart to see how others have styled them!

I am definitely trying out your delicious looking Christmas Salad! I enjoy a salad at this time of the year to help with keeping those calories down a little. My closest mall has dropped to about half full of stores. I would not be surprised if it closes soon.

Count me in on the salad comments!! Sounds like a delish dish!! Your posted “new items” are truly exquisite looking!! franki

My favorite posts are the Sunday ones. Your salad looks delicious and I will try it soon. Happy Holidays to all.

I LOVE this salad! I use a similar recipe and add bacon and pumpkin seeds to the walnuts with a dash of cayenne for a little extra zing. It’s also yummy to sub apple for the pear. The IG photos are all so inspiring….gonna go zjoosh up my front porch!

The video of the Dewberry’s home was fabulous. I love the home tours so keep them coming!

We have a mall very close to where we live, so I do visit it now and then. Plus I have a young personal shopper there that is great and helps me find or order things. I like to give her the business, even if I decide to order something online.

The salad looks and sounds delicious. It may be on my menu for a luncheon during the holidays.

Listened to a market analysis on a podcast yesterday. Americans do 80% of their shopping in brick and mortar stores. Surprised me.

I love how your blog keeps me up to date on just about everything. Your taste in everything is exquisite, and I look forward to it each Sunday.
BTW I never got to Alberobello but that photo almost made up for it!

I look forward to the Seven on Sunday posts, particularly the house tours and the Instagram picks. It’s also good to see a lot of your new chinoiserie. I’m so glad that you are keeping it alive and well while I am seeing too much pared down modern style in decor magazines and on the internet.

Will be making a trip today to Trader Joe’s to buy some nice pears for that fabulous looking salad!!! I don’t shop too much at our local mall, but sometimes I will have my online orders shipped to pick up the store’s mall location to save on shipping costs and then if I need to return, I’m right there. We also have some pretty good restaurants and a movie theatre that we visit frequently.

Our small city recently reinvested in our downtown and it’s thriving now. The mall is wasting away. Happily we just approved a project to repurpose the site for mixed use — high-density housing with retail. Can’t wait!

My shopping habits are a strange hybrid; I checked that I shop online, but it’s at local stores that ship. I do miss some things about malls. It was a fun outing in heat waves with littles, and the holiday decorations were always worth seeing. Overstimulating on a regular basis but neat memories nonetheless.

That salad has my name on it! I will try to make it soon.
I’m the last reader here that has not put up a tree. Don’t get me wrong, I have a hoard of Christmas pretties. But seeing your post this morning , wiped away my blues. I think the pretty wrapped packages did it for me. There is a reason for the season, for me , I need to shake off some depression and celebrate this most joyous season !

Tina, your blog is my only blog that I religiously read. Your creativity and love for blue and white with traditional styling is something I have in common with you. I look forward to your recipes because they are always so delicious and easily made. You’re like a good friend that I’ve always known and share so many similar interest in and yet I’ve never met you.. Thank you for taking your precious time in writing. this blog that I believe brings joy to many..

The mall question…..In a way, it’s sad to see our local mall “disappearing”. I used to love going, especially at Christmas. Now, it’s almost depressing with so few people there and the number of stores that have closed. On the upside, the local retailers seem to be thriving!

I really appreciate how you share, so generously, your recipes and Instagram posts. It takes time to do both of these. We each only have so much time, and I am grateful for the gift of time these take to share with all of us. Christmas blessings to you and yours!

All that chinoiserie tole is AMAZING! Cannot wait for the sale, so hard to find and when I do (on Chairish or 1st Dibs) the prices are nuts.
Enjoyed the elegant house tour, so old world and pretty.
I am making that salad! I am hosting my tennis ladies next week and think I will need to incorporate that. Like you, I do not like malls and avoid them other than dropping off my teens there. I like to shop in smaller stores and support small businesses but do my fair share online as well. Malls are much quieter than they used to be this time of year, in my opinion. Have a good day!

Tina,
Thank you for keeping us in the know about so many things. One thing in particular on your post from today was
new to me. NAD was something I had not heard about. I appreciate the time you invest in the posts for your blog community to keep us in the know.

For me there is nothing better than seeing an old southern home decked out for Christmas! Thank you!

Your new website is so lovely and easy to navigate, and I’m glad we can still read your blog. I love using your posts as decorating inspiration!

I loved the Dewberry’s home tour. It’s a classic Charleston single and truly elegant. Charleston is one of my favorite cities. Now I have an urge to revisit. It’s been too long.

In regards to your mall question, I live in a tourist area and all our shopping malls are always crowded, year ’round. It is nice to see our economy where we live is going strong. We get many tourists shopping in our malls and outlets and bring their treasures home with them. With all that being said, I very rarely go to the malls or outlets unless absolutely necessary because I hate crowded shopping areas!

The salad looks amazing. I thought you mentioned, that with your new website, we could be able to print out your recipes. That would be great if we could. Thanks,

The Instagram post with the dog in the Christmas stocking was darling!!!
Your salad sounds and looks yummy. I will have to try it.

I’m always thrilled when a fresh new dish is shared during the holidays. This salad looks so pretty and love the pear and cranberry combination. I look forward to serving it with our Christmas dinner. Thank you for sharing! Merry Christmas!

I don’t like shopping malls. I prefer unique stores that have that touch of well unique. Love love that house tour especially the stable turned kitchen. So glad they didn’t redo to look new.

What resonated with me is your love for precious Phillip! What joy he is bringing into your family’s life! What a gift!!

I always really enjoy the posts you find on instagram, and today’s did not disappoint ! Also love your sales & have picked up many beautiful items that you have created. I’m a Big Fan !!

Your blog post on Sunday is like a visit with a close friend who enjoys beautiful things, recipes, design videos, family and pets etc. Thanks for sharing all these enchanting things.

I find it amazing how many of us out there are blue and white fans! It is so wonderful that your blog is perfect for us and am thrilled that I found you. You are such a doll to take the time to share with us your beautiful homes, both in NY and PB, your travels, fashion advice, beauty tips, recipes, and decorating options. Such inspiration! I feel like we are long time friends every time I get an email and look forward to reading it. Many thanks for all you do.

I can’t wait to try your pear arugula salad recipe, it sounds delicious and looks so festive! Also, I am a nut for your gift wrap papers and ribbons!

The Christmas salad looks delicious! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I love that you have purchased 4 gifts and all for your darling grandson! That’s what resonated with me. There’s no budget when it comes to to grandbabies!

Malls aren’t my favorite either. Smaller boutique stores offer so much more in the way of customer service, although I still love Nordstrom!
