Hi there! Hope everyone enjoying a wonderful weekend. Our weekend plans to be in Boston came to a screeching halt, with my husband getting sick and then sadly finding out a relative, my dear Aunt Margie (who was quite a singer) and who’s video on my Instagram was amount a favorite of yours passed away. At 95, she lived a long, full, and beautiful life…surrounded by much love until the very end, we will miss her greatly but know she is bringing her spirit to the heavens and adding a lot of joy up there.

So you know what they say about those best laid plans….today heading to a bridal shower. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful and relaxing weekend, here we go with my post this Sunday.

1 OUR CUSTOM LATTICE BARS We get several people a week asking if we can bring them back. We had one left which was designated for an event planner but the wedding was postponed so it was up for grabs and it sold immediately, We are thinking of offering one last container of the bars. If you are interested please send an email to info@enchantedhome.com and write bar on subject line. A decision will be made soon and we will send a mailer out as soon as we know.

2 FABULOUS PIN BOARD  Fell in love with these fabulous pin boards from Abby Ward so chic! I love the fabric, the size offerings and think every one that has a home office or designated desk space needs one. I will absolutely be ordering one for my home office for the new house.

4 GORGEOUS MEG BRAFF HOUSE TOUR Loved this house tour. She embraced her use of color so beautifully, it really works in such a cohesive fasion which is not easy to do. I also love the scale, a beautiful, welcoming and warm feeling home indeed!

5 TWO FABULOUS DRESS UNDER $40! I was looking for this viral beach coverup on Amazon that I couldn’t find but in my “travels” saw these dresses and could not believe the price on these dresses, I bought both and honestly in person they look easily like they could easily be $400 anywhere. A steal if I ever saw one.Really nice quality, beautiful embroidery and they are lined.

A lot of times, the pictures can be deceiving but in this case, they both far surpassed what I was expecting and could not get over the price!! A perfect summer dress, I wore one a few days ago to a shower and wore it flat t strap sandals, it was such a great little outfit. Here are “real life pictures” of the fabrics

6 CRAB BALLS! Made these the other day and forgot how darn good they are and honestly quite easy. You can make balls out of them and serve as appetizers or make as a patties and serve for an entree. Either way they are delish!! Key is the ground saltines vs breadcrumbs. i promise you will love these!

  • 1 lb lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells

  • 1 cup crushed Ritz crackers or saltine crackers

  • 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • 2 tbsp finely diced onion

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning

  • 1⁄2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Juice of 1/2 lemon (must be a fresh lemon)

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

  • In a large bowl, gently mix together the crab meat, cracker crumbs (I get a ziploc, put the saltines inside and use a mallet to cursh into small pieces), mayonnaise, egg, onion, mustard, parsley, Old Bay, Worcestershire, lemon juice. Try not to break up the lumps of crab meat too much.
  • Using your hands, shape the mixture into golf ball-sized balls, compressing them gently so they hold together. Place on a baking sheet.
  • Chill the crab balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or overnight. This helps them hold together better when frying.
  • When ready to cook, heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven to 350°F.
  • Working in batches, carefully lower the chilled crab balls into the hot oil using a slotted spoon. Fry until golden brown all over, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove with the slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Serve the crab balls warm with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce, such as remoulade, cocktail sauce, or garlic aioli. Garnish with additional chopped parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
  • If serving as a meal, I like serving with basil potatoes or a risotto and a big salad and asparagus or broccoli rabe.

7 SUNDAYS SURVEY Well I posted about a vent I had with Neiman Marcus and clearly it struck a chord and lots of you chimed in. Click here if you missed it, I think it’s worth the read as are the comments! So today’s question seems appropriate with regard to service you experience in the retail setting in general. It even extends to doctors offices now!

My husbands doctor now has a call center to take their overload of call….so ridiculous! What is happening? I am happy to say my small business still prides itself very much on old fashioned customized and very personalize service. Curious what you think?

(Collective) we get what we’re willing to pay for. Blame a system that funnels profits to the rarefied top of any enterprise to the point where those you expect to be at your beck can’t make a living fawning over you and waiting on your convenience.

OK so I want to make those crab balls today, order a pin board and would love to add my name to the bar list! I missed out on your last offering as we were moving but now have just the spot for one!

I am sad about retail too. Its dying around here as well (Santa Monica) service is almost non existent in even the best stores. The turnover is huge and you never get to really know a salesperson anymore, the way it used to be. Quite sad. Now I do most of my shopping online or in smaller boutiques that actually value their customers. And YOUR service with the Enchanted Home is always excellent! Hope your hubs feels better soon and sorry about your aunt. Never easy to say goodbye to those we love.

Great post! Love that dress and bag, buying them both- what a deal!

Retail (in person) is the worst. Even. our Nordstrom has gone way way down hill. You have to go no a wild goose chase just to find someone to ring you up. I am done.

Our only three dept. stores in Santa Barbara,CA have are being converted to low income housing .

We have become such a pampered society…the few Sales Associates “still working” must be saints to listen to all the verbal abuse reamed upon THEM day in & day out. Shaking my head.

In addition to the lack of sales associates available in the large department stores, the crime rates in and around the locations of the larger malls with NM, Saks, Nordstroms, etc., curbs my enthusiasm for braving the traffic in hopes of finding what I am looking for. And oh how I used to enjoy shopping. I do patronize local boutiques and markets near me but admit, on line shopping is routine now.

Thank you for the Crab balls recipe, they look delicious.
I’m so happy to purchase my favorite sconce and lampshades at a discount. I ordered 3 sets of 6 sconce shades and a large lampshade. They are of excellent quality and add so much to my kitchen. Thank you! ❤️

Crab balls look delish, but I do not fry anymore. Could they be baked? Would love to make them, but in the oven. Hints?
Great post today!

I live in a city of about 75,000 people and we don’t even have any real retail stores left…Macy’s was our big one and they left about 10 years ago as did Younker’s. Now we have Sears and Penneys ( I have never shopped there), Walmart, Kohl’s, Target, Sam’s Club, Costco, HomeGoods, and TJmaxx. Small cities have been left in the dust and when I go to Minneapolis, most of the nice stores that are left, look like they’re going out of business. It is dreadful!

I once had an issue with an order from your store several years ago. The lady I spoke with was so kind and helpful. I appreciated it so much. Unfortunately, one seldom sees this level of customer support these days.
