Hi hope everyone is having a great weekend. By the time you read this hopefully we will be in Palmetto Bluff for just a few short (but really needed) days to just relax and unwind. It has been a nonstop summer, and while we have done some fun things and went to some some wonderful events, there has not been a lot of down time at all. I always felt like I was coming up for air to get ready to the next “thing” on the calendar.
And summer is one of those months more than any other that I really cherish have a succession of days of free time. We haven’t had much! Even carving out a couple days to go to PB was a challenge. So…I take them when I can get them! After the next wedding we have in Sept, things should calm down and I can hardly wait! OK onward to my post this weekend…

2 A GORGEOUS HOUSE TOUR Love this charmer on Nantucket….so nicely done. Welcoming, warm and inviting ala Nancy Meyers:)
3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST A beautiful summery round up, have to enjoy these fleeting summers while we have them!
4 AN AMAZING FARRO GREEK SALAD This is sooo good! Great as a side with a BBQ, fish or chicken, can easily be a main dish as well. Super flavorful and always a hit!
Cook the farro. You can cook the farro on the stovetop according to the packaged directions. I use my Instant Pot and do a pressure cook for 10 minutes followed by a 12 minute natural release. Use water or chicken broth (my preferred liquid for grains).
1 cup farro
Prep the dressing. In a mixing bowl, combine all the dressing ingredients – the olive oil, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, honey, dijon mustard, and seasonings. Whisk and then pour into a mason jar.
1/2 cup olive oil, 1 Tablespoon lemon juice, 2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar, 2 teaspoons honey, 2 teaspoons dijon mustard, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Add all ingredients to a large salad bowl – the cooked and cooled farro, the fresh veggies, canned/jarred veggies, and the feta cheese. Toss.
1 medium red bell pepper, 1 1/2 cups english cucumber, 2 cups cherry tomatoes, 1/2 cup red onion, 30 oz. chickpeas, 12 oz. marinated artichokes, 1 cup green olives, 1 cup black olives, 6 oz. feta cheese
Add the dressing to the salad before serving.
5 SOMETHING ABOUT SMALL TOWNS I always love visiting small charming towns and discovering new ones. Give me one any day over a big sprawling city. Maybe because I have lived in NYC for a long time, and got my share of the big city. Something so charming about small towns with their darling little cafes, carefully curated boutiques. Came across this article which was a fun read. My parents almost bought a second home in Boone, NC, they loved it. Wondering how many you have been to or aware of? Click here to read the article.
6 SOME EXCITING THINGS ARE HERE! We introduced small rechargeable lamps, 3 styles are here now, the porcelain lamp and wicker will be here in about 10 days and the newer metal in approx 2-3 weeks. Click here to se see the lamp options. Other exciting news is the prettiest collection of linen/cotton place mats and napkins.
So in love with them, and we ordered lots of colors with fall in mind. We will be holding a presale either later this coming week or the following, so stay tuned. It was fun pairing them with our beautiful china (we are old out completely of lily of the valley but will get more in Sept) and just restocked the Blue Tulips,. Haven’t been this excited over new things in a long time! Here is a little sneak peek…
7 SUNDAYS SURVEY So the other day I was so annoyed, I was at a mall (a place I try to avoid at all costs) but had to go. The parking lot was an absolute zoo. Never had seen it like that except for Christmas. Finally I spy someone going to her car, I could not put on my blinker fast enough. She acknowledged me waiting, went into her car. And sat. And sat some more.
And then about 10 minutes later I gave up. I thought that was so rude, she easily could have said she wasn’t leaving or just a motion with her finger to indicate “no” which I have done before. I am the kind of person that will always not only acknowledge someone waiting but even rush a bit to get out of the spot as a courteous. Please tell me I am not alone! Ironifcally I found another spot about 6 min later not too far and she was still in her car!
Today is the second and last day to take advantage of 25% off all chinoiserie trays and tray tables! We have so many beautiful ones that were recently restocked and this is a fabulous time to get one that you may have had your eye on!

And that is a wrap. Thanks for stopping in, wishing everyone a great day and end to your weekend. Crazy that many schools have already started, I am seeing all the cute little kids dressed up in their cute back school outfits, boy that came fast! And of course, the back to school ads, even Halloween is out there in abundance. Summer is definitely one foot out the door! Until next time…
We lived 20 minutes west of Boone for 20 years. I had gone there with friends for several years before my husband and I moved there. This was before Boone became what is now. Basically over populated and many more App State college kids than back in the “old days”..HA!!! I still have friends there and part of me would love to still have a house there.
But, we moved back to Texas 10 1/2 years ago. I am from Texas but it sure took lots of getting used to…especially the heat.
My husband died almost 3 years ago so I am glad to be here closer to family.
Boone, and the surrounding areas, are great places to go and visit. Lots of summer people and second, and some third, home people live there. It changed alot after Covid with people wanting to get out of the cities.
All in all it’s still a great place.
It’s every man or woman to his or herself in today’s world. I’ve noticed this getting worse over the years. There’s little courtesy extended, often no acknowledgment of others. I ask myself when I am annoyed and yet being kind and considerate why I continue being kind and my answer is I don’t want be like them! You know, the one that runs the red light, the one that cuts you off in traffic, the one talking loudly on their phone while in line or at the grocery store, etc! No. I don’t want to be like them!
Oh I need that hat, going to Italy next week! Love all the new tabletop things coming in, so pretty. I am one of those very courteous people, I will always let someone know if I am not leaving right away rather than keep them there hanging. I don’t understand people who don’t understand simple courtesy.
One of my favorite small towns is Grafton, Vermont. We discovered it by accident, getting lost. It was such a happy accident, it was so beautiful and charming. Hope you get to your happy place, Tina.
My hubby and I live i. Raleigh, NC. We go to Boone and Blowing Rock several times a year. Absolutely beautiful drive up and seeing the Blue Ridge Mountains, then, the charming towns of both, Boone and Blowing Rock.
Since road rage is a thing, I try to keep interactions with other drivers very low-key. That’s the main reason I checked the “not my obligation” box — explaining myself might open the door to a confrontation. However, I’ll always try to pull out of a spot in a full parking lot ASAP. Not the right place or time for me to settle in without a compelling reason (ill, have to make an urgent call, like that).
My china is white with a deep red rim and gold edge. I use my Stieff Rose sterling for setting a table with my plates. I am looking for a color in a placemat or tablecloth to use with my china. I usually use my white linen tablecloth and napkins. Seeing all your gorgeous colors in a table setting is making me doubt my red china. Can you pass along any ideas for adding color? Thank you so much! Big fan!!

BTW: Love the new lamps!
