Hello friends, back from a quick trip to delightful Palmetto Bluff. What a wonderful place to decompress and unplug for a few days. Never long enough but duty called and I missed Phillip a lot,  but I will take what I can get! I was so happy to see how many “got me” with regard to the last Let’s Talk about hotel rooms. Click here if you missed it

You are my people indeed! It was so good and there were other subjects related to that, that I want to continue the conversation on, so we will definitely do a part two! That was fun and quite validating:) Those posts really are a lot of fun. Hoping for a nice relaxing day today possibly going into NYC later (husband often fights me on this) but NYC in the fall is the ultimate, makes me miss living there when I go in the fall/winter.

OK onward to my post this Sunday…..

1 PRAYERS FOR JAMAICA The devastation and aftermath happening in Jamaica from Hurricane Melissa is just coming to light. The destruction speaks for itself and I cannot imagine what the rebuilding process will look like, how long it will take or how those affected will live their lives in the meanwhile. It’s easy to feel helpless when we are here far removed from the catastrophe but I believe any little thing we can do is better than doing nothing at all.

So today through Wed. 10% of all sales will be going to Direct Relief,  which provides direct relief to the victims and family’s of those affected by the hurricane.

We will be donating to Direct Relief who has a 100% and best rating on Charity Navigator among many other sites.Thank you in advance! Click here to visit our shop (be sure to check out many new arrivals)!

2 A RABBIT HOLE I WENT DOWN FOR HOURS!  Calling all cat lovers and people who just enjoy unusual and fascinating things! Not even sure how even how to describe this. I was sure it was AI but it is in fact a real thing, one that has gone quite viral with good reason. This man, obsessed with cats built a literal “cat city” complete with banks, cafes, jewelry shops, a Meowdonalds a theater and even their own little hotel. I have never ever seen anything quite like this. It captivated me for hours and I am admittedly not even a cat lover.  Click here to see more and go down a serious most unique rabbit hole!

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST What a beautiful round up depicting my favorite time of year!

4 CHINOISERIE TREE COLLAR!  We started on a decorative tree stand project a bit late and with current shipping constraints (tariffs) we pivoted- hello, gorgeous chinoiserie tree collar! It slips nearly over your existing stand for a truly elevated, elegant polished finishing touch to you tree! You will certainly have the prettiest tree stand around!  I used AI to show these in a variety of color options, they tweaked the design somewhat but you get the idea! Cannot wait to have one of these holding my tree!

Limited presale launches early next week in three colors! Which two do you love most?

5 A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK If you want that quintessential movie filmed in NYC, that captures the vibe in the fall, with jazzy music and a colorful cast of fun and somewhat eccentric characters who have a crazy weekend of adventures, then this is your movie. I have seen it at least 3 or 4 times but had not watched it in ages. On a rainy day in PB, I cozied up and watched it and it was the absolutely perfect movie that I was in the mood for. Elle Fanning was particularly great in this. Just in case this resonates with you and you. have not seen it, I highly recommend.

6 SOMETHING I AM DOING TO HELP MAKE MY HOLIDAY GIFT GIVING LESS STRESSFUL. Starting Nov 1st, I said I will buy 1-2 holiday gifts a week. Gift cards don’t count. But I am talking meaningful gifts that require some thought. I bought my first two gifts (one for my dad and one for my husband) as a few things came onto my radar. They will be here this week and I am so excited to get them, just knowing I will have a spot to hide my gifts, knowing that by Dec 20th I will be done is an unbelievable great feeling…and hopeful will make for stress free gift giving *unlike last year!

I am also working on holiday cards (the earliest I have ever done this)! Last year got cards out, which I had not done in ages, want to continue….

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY Let’s talk Christmas trees! First when do you put it up and do you use real or faux? Until we had a literal invasion of aphids (like out of a horror show) about 8 years ago, I was always team real tree. Don’t know that I could ever do that again! So we have been using faux. I typically did not put mine up until early to mid Dec but this year thinking of putting it up much earlier, in sync with my above list of getting things done week by week in order to thwart any undue stress like previous years. So, am curious about you?

When I try to go to your shop, I get the Chinese jar and the dots go round and round for five minutes or more. I give up by that time and can never get it to open. Should it take this long? What am I doing wrong?

Christmas season and Decorations usually begins after November 11th (Remembrance Day/ Veterans Day) in my home. This year I am going to be a little more organized for Christmas as well. Needing to enjoy this special time of year with family and friends. Yesterday I started polishing the silver just to get ahead of the seasonal rush and ironing some linen Christmas napkins. These little jobs can be so time consuming when the Christmas dinner parties/socializing starts. Looking forward to the Christmas Season. Cheers!

Good morning!
I was excited to see a full page photo of your living room fireplace in the latest issue of Flower magazine. Your use of amaryllis and greenery on the mantle was featured in the piece devoted to the amaryllis flower and ideas for its use during the winter season.

The Christmas tree collars are spectacular! I’ll be watching for their arrival.

Have a wonderful week.

Put me down for the tree collars- so beautiful! I want one green and one ivory. We put a tree up in our living and in our dining room. Love that you helping with the Jamaica hurricane relief, what a tragedy. The cat city is CRAZY. I am sending it to my daughter who owns two cats and will get such a kick out of it.

APHIDS! Oh my gosh! I would have freaked out. The last real tree we had was gorgeous. About five days before Christmas, as we had out of town guests sitting down to a Christmas dinner, I kept hearing what sounded like rain. Finally walked over to the Christmas tree and discovered the fir’s needles were dropping continuously! By morning the tree was almost a skeleton! Had to totally ‘un-decorate’ the tree and haul the mess out the front door. Then had to decorate a faux tree in time for Christmas!
At least with faux trees we can now keep them up and enjoy them for a nice long time!
Love your tree collars! You bring us the most wonderful items Tina. I’m awaiting your lovely napkin rings any day!
Thanks as always for a lovely post!

Dear Tina, I have spent hours researching which pre-lit faux Christmas tree is the most realistic and easiest to put up. We need a large one and my guess is that yours was fairly large, as well. Do you have any recommendations? Would dearly appreciate any suggestions.

Oh that tree collar is calling my name, beautiful idea!! I will absolute be ordering one. I cannot get over the cat city, what a marvel of ingenuity and imagination! I also am not a lover of cats but am amazed.

Going to watch your movie suggestions, do not think I have seen that one, sounds and looks good. I am also trying to plan things early this year, have a surgery in 2 weeks for a ski injury and know my time will be limited this year so planning ahead as much as possible. Anything to relieve that dreadful holiday stress we all put ourselves through!

I had to chuckle Tina , as your survey didn’t call for “ around Halloween “ / beginning of November ; to begin Xmas decorating. . While out shopping at the usual haunts for decor , you’d be amazed at the number of women you’ll chat with , who begin their decorating the day after Halloween !! Especially when you have more than one tree to decorate ; it’s a must to start early !!
