Hi there and happy Sunday! I want to first announce the winner of the stocking giveaway! Congratulations goes to #34-

Karenann S. says: I love your porcelain Christmas trees are so darling. I would love to sprinkle them around my house. They would look so pretty. I also love the needlepoint stockings. They would make any Christmas tree look special!

Please email us with your name and address so your stocking can be on the way!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Ours was a busy one, dinner with friends and then the most wonderful truffle dinner hosted in someones home with 5 couples, it was such a treat! Nothing like a wonderful meal in the coziness of ones home especially in the cooler months. It made me realize how much fun those can be, and I hope to do one myself soon.

Today hope to relax a bit, catch up on a lot and maybe watch a good movie. Also starting to think about Thanksgiving (I will be cooking) we will be 9 or 10 so doable. I love Thanksgiving, just a day to be together with no expectations, no gifts, not much pressure other than making sure the turkey is not burning! Normally we are in Palmetto Bluff but will be in NY this time. We will likely travel to PB after Christmas. OK, onward to my post this Sunday….

1 A LOVELY FEATURE OF MY PAST CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS This came on my radar and it was fun going down memory lane looking at Christmas’s from the past in both houses. I cannot wait to be settled back and going full throttle with my holiday decorating. A lot of my things are in storage so will do the best I can. I loved seeing all these wonderful pictures over at The Glam Pad. Such fun! Click here to see more and the entire article at The Glam Pad.

2 A LOVELY HOLIDAY HOME TOUR I may have featured his a while back but it bears repeating, such a lovely cozy, elegant holiday home…and that kitchen!!

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Always so much inspiration over at Instagram, despite my many frustration with it and that AI is really starting to take over….(wish there was a way to label any pictures used with AI) Had an issue with my very old iPad this week so wasn’t able to save the rest of my favorite instagrams this week.

4 MY FAVORITE COMFORT MEAL EVER! If you have ever had Beef Bourguignon, you know how divine it is! It is to me, the ultimate comfort food. It does require a decent amount of prep and cook time, but its so worth it. Plus this recipe is enough for two meals so we get to enjoy it two nights in a row. Served with either a side of mashed potatoes or a nice crusty baguette loaf, doesn’t get much tastier than this! Definitely a family favorite.

BEEF BOURGUIGNON

  • About 3-4 tablespoons light virgin olive oil
  • 8 ounces bacon, chopped (1/2 a package)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic cloves, large chopped pieces (not too fine)
  • 1/2 cup cognac
  • 1 bottle of good full bodied ?red wine (ideallylike Beaujolais, Cabernet or Burgundy)
  • ?2 cups beef broth(I used Emerils box of beef stock which is a 32 oz box)
  • 1-2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2-2 1/2 pounds beef cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Fresh pepper
  • 1 pound carrots, cut to 1 inch (don’t use baby carrots, they are too soft)
  • 2 med.onions- thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (1/2 teaspoon dried) I used a bit more than the recipe called for
  • 4 tablespoons butter at room temperature, melted
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms (cut off stems and discard)

If you have a nice heavy dutch oven, that is preferable otherwise a good stock pot is fine. I used my Le Cruset “weighs a ton” pot but it was perfect for this dish plus its French! Heat the olive oil and add the bacon, cook on medium until fairly crispy. Remove and drain bacon. Add cubed beef (after they have been rinsed, patted dry and sprinkled with sea salt and pepper) one layer at a time and sear the meat, this will take about 4-5 minutes, make sure its seared on all sides. Set aside with the bacon.

Next, you will add carrots, onions, and either potatoes or turnips if you are using them along with salt and pepper to the fat in the pot and cook for about 15 minutes or until soft and onions are lightly browned. Then add garlic and cook for another minute or two. Next add Cognac…you then should take a match and light it right in the pot…STAND BACK while you do this and stare in awe at your budding creation! (This process burns off the alcohol)

Next add the meat and bacon into the pot with the juices already in. Add the bottle of wine and beef broth, this mixture should pretty much cover the meat. Next add tomato paste and thyme. Simmer and then cover…at this point you can either cook it on the stove or transfer to a preheated oven (300 degrees) I cooked mine on the stove.?

After about an hour and a half, the meat will be fork tender. On the side, take 2 tbsp of butter and melt then mix with flour and add to stew. In a small saute pan, melt additional 2 tbsp of butter and saute mushrooms for about 5-10 minutes or until soft. Add to stew, bring to a brief boil and then simmer and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Season to taste. At the end, I add a few additional stalks of fresh thyme…get that baguette and wine ready and you are in for a divine treat!

5 A SNEAK PEEK AT SPRING These were just too good to not share, and yes, I realize the holidays are still ahead but it’s fun to dream about the next season. We are using our best selling classic chinoiserie pattern and will introduce a beautiful spring line of eggs, planters and wastepaper baskets. I haven’t been this excited about a new collection in a while and bonus is that we are starting really early on these.  We will start getting these in later Jan. Just thought it would be fun to share, you are always the first to get these sneak peeks!

And with these fabulous matching planters, i can see beautiful spring blooms in these, can you?

Love this new style wastepaper basket and tissue! Will be offered in four new colors, these are some of what we are considering…

Very excited about these fabulous new tole ginger jars, these can be a nice option from porcelain, these are lightweight, super decorative and some will be narrower so they could be great for places like mantles,  stay tuned! We will start with 2 sizes and 3 colors for each style, stay tuned! We are also toying with making some of these designs lamps!

We are playing around with various design sand colors, the chinoiserie jars are a definite as are some of the other patterns underneath-

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY So the holidays are upon us. Lots of list making starting to happen. I am determined this year to feel like  most is done by early December. I cannot stand the pressure or stress of suddenly being overwhelmed by what is left to do. I am already working on a holiday Christmas card and. have even purchased two gifts (huge for me who tends to wait until Dec). I am also looking at faux trees, as ours is put away in storage. I am debating between a real vs faux

Putting on lights reality gives me anxiety, so I would love to find a great pre- lit tree!  So I went to a beautiful nursery in my neighborhood (where I had bought our other one many years ago) and to my surprise, he said they weren’t carrying them anymore and that they only had a few smaller trees left from last year.I was really surprised, as it seems the trend if more faux than real or am I wrong. Curious what you use. Meanwhile, my hunt continues….

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for stopping in. Wishing everyone a fabulous day until. next time…

Balsam Hill has beautiful, good quality pre lit trees. With the cords in the trunk, they are very easy to put up. Just put the pieces together and you are ready to decorate. I have three and highly recommend them!

I wish that the Easter eggs could be ivory and gold in colour. They would be so beautiful.

That dish looks so good!! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

LOVE all the new pieces for the spring, how beautiful. Will you also do bunnies, I hope so? You things get prettier and prettier. Only fake trees for us, don’t want to deal with the sap and critters (which we did one year) Balsam Hill makes great realistic tree!

So much to love here! Your Christmas photos are always my favorite, your style is the best!
Another vote for Balsam Hill. High quality, a little expensive but you have them forever and they are pre lit! Just put my tree up yesterday.
Love the linens and the new items coming up, lots of temptations! Enjoy your relax at home day, my husband and kids are off to a tournament so I get to stay home and relax too, a rarity!

Balsam Hill trees are worth the investment. I have put one in the living room and one in the dining room.

Just made Beef Bourguignon last week but no longer use cognac since we like the flavor better without. I can’t believe you say you have it for two nights! We have it for several days & I often freeze some to enjoy later too. We like to serve it the “French” way according to Ina Garten, over a crusty slice of baguette rubbed with olive oil and a garlic clove.

Yes, yes, YES to the new chinoiserie eggs and planters for spring 2026!!!!
My anticipation radar just shifted from the warm and cozy glow of Christmas to the fresh, “throw-open-the-windows” cries of Spring! Is it possible to be thrilled by both simultaneously???

A pre-lit tree from Balsam Hill is just beautiful! It’s difficult to see that it’s not real. Frontgate also makes a lovely pre-lit tree. It’s so much easier to decorate!

i’ve been noticing small label “AI Enhanced” on pictures on my Instagram feed. If i were a creator, design professional, I’d be very nervous about this. Very upsetting. I know designers use it as a tool, but who is posting this “AI Enhanced” content?
