Hello and a very happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing moms out there. THE single hardest job on the planet and I will die on that hill! I hope whatever you are up to is both relaxing and mostly, what you want to do! This is our day to do as we please and be pampered a little:) Unfortunately weather not so great here, we originally were planning to go into the city and make a day of it, but with Phillip the long drive and inevitable traffic can be tricky so we are staying local and going to a favorite restaurant for an early dinner.

I miss my mom every day but on Mothers Day and her birthday in particular, I am brought back to so many wonderful memories with her and sadly, though I wish I could not think about, those last few months which haunt me. It was so painful to see someone you love so much suffer. I know she is a better place, no longer suffering, I do believe she is watching over me, in fact, I know she is. I know many of you are in the same boat. There is no greater gift than the steady beautiful love of a mother.

It never gets “easy” but learn how to live your life without them but still being able to feel their presence. For those lucky enough to have their moms, please enjoy, embrace and treasure every single minute you get with them. You will never get that time back.

OK, onto my post this Sunday…..

1 A FABULOUS NEW MASCARA DISCOVERY!  I have shared that Thrive is my favorite mascara, however find it annoying that you cannot buy it in any store and must order through them. So always looking for good backups. And boy, did I ever hit the jackpot! Say hello to Loreal’s newest  mascara. It is fantastic!! I was actually shocked at how my lashes lengthened with 2 coats, it uses the “fillers” for the lashes so just a few coats does wonders. The closest to Thrive that I have found so this was a really happy discovery. This an absolute repeat purchase. Click here

2 A CLASSIC NEW YORK APARTMENT I love this apt by Christina Murphy (tour by Potted Boxwood). I think it is a really well done example of sophisticated traditional with some more traditional touches. I love the neutrality, of course the idea of incorporator chinoiserie and the beautiful banquette which I am a big fan of wherever you can use them. Well done! If I were to ever own another apt in NYC and I will never say never because I talk about it all the time….I would imagine it having this same kind of vibe.

Its worth watching the video I included below.

Here is a video if you want to see the entire apt-

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST So much beauty, with a heavy emphasis on flowers this Sunday, very appropriate for Mother’s Day!

4 A MOST FASCINATING VIDEO TOUR OF FRANCE’S MOST NOTABLE BUTTER FACTORY You heard right…butter. I mean, who doesn’t love it. I bought this butter when I was there and it is heaven, literally the best butter I have ever tasted. I love watching how things are made and found this so incredibly fascinating, you might too!. I love that they take you through the process from start to finish and showcase how they make “couture” butters for some of France’s finest dining establishments. Just fascinating and how incredible is their devotion and work ethic, really to be admired.

5 A NEW DESIGN PROJECT I have recently  taken on a wonderful NYC design project, a very exciting one. We are working on multiple rooms at once and making great progress. They want to move in Sept which works well for me as my own project will start really revving up by then. Here are some of the concept rooms I have done so far. Stay tuned…

6 PROTEIN BARS? I am finally back to healthy eating, I don’t want to call-it a diet as I honestly hate that word:) We have a number of events coming up so I would love to lose around the 15 lbs I think I gained over the winter. So I am trying to stay away from most carbs and all sweets. I find afternoons to be a time when I am hungry but its too early for dinner and i need a little sometime to tide me over.

Sometimes it hummus and a vegetable or handful of nuts but I recently discovered these protein bars (from a friends nutritionist)  and I love that there is 16 grams of protein and only 2 grams of sugar . These are a perfect pick me up, fill me up, and give me a little boost. These are really hardy for a bar and totally satiate me. Plus they make me feel like I am eating a candy bar and that’s always a nice treat! I keep one with me and sometimes will just have little bites throughout the day. Click here

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY So we all love candles or at least most of us do. We had a brief blue and white candle collection was was a runaway success. The candle maker however, closed their business which was so unfortunate as we loved their candles and did so well with them.

We still get people asking for us to bring them back. Well…some good news. We are considering partnering with another candle maker who makes a high quality beautiful array of scents and featuring them in our trademark blue and white containers. A few samples below! Thoughts? What a spectacular gift for any blue and white lover! I  love the idea of these small votive style candles which actually hold about 6 oz  each as a set. I mean, what a fabulous gift these would make! And we would likely do our small fishbowls as well. Stay tuned, would love your opinion.

It’s always fun to get your feedback and perspective on anything and everything.  Wishing all  mothers out there (both of humans and furry friends) a happy and relaxing day, doing as you please. Thank you for the beauty, grace and love you bring into the world!

I look forward to a day of Phillip and a lovely meal shared together later. We aren’t all in town (bummer) but will make the best of it. Until next time……

BUTTER….BUTTER….BUTTER……I WANT!!!! Ay caramba — who knew that butter could be so divine! Re: candles — I’d buy in a heartbeat as long as they have cotton wicks and are made with essential oils. Love the concept rooms you’re designing — I just don’t get the current trend for drenching the trim and molding. Guess I prefer the contrast of white trim and molding against a colored wall.

Could you please offer an Unscented candle option. I love that you’re considering bringing these back, but most scented candles give me migraines. Thank you!

Happy Mother’s Day, Tina!
Thank you for the beautiful post and the videos. I especially enjoyed the butter video. I buy French butter from a subscription service (Wildgrain) and love it!
The candles are beautiful and I’d love to see them come back. I especially like the fishbowl style.
As long as the wax is pure with no paraffin, the wick is cotton, and essential oils are used for fragrance, I’d buy several.
Wishing you all the best as you spend time with your family.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY SWEET TINA! I know you are missing your beautiful mom as I am mine. It is tough but yes, they do watch over us.
I love the design project you are doing- wow lucky clients! I look forward to seeing more. You are one busy lady. Loved the butter video, so fascinating. Nothing as good as french butter.
Those candles are amazing- a big yes to them. I cannot wait until you have them, any timeline? Hope you have a relaxing day.
PS Trying that mascara, every single product you have recommended that I have bought I love! Especially the Maya Chia skincare items.

One of your most beautiful posts ! Loved watching the Butter video and Home tour !! Happy Mother’s Day to you ! I still miss my Mother too. The older I grow the more a see the gifts from her , passed to me and now to my 3 daughters . How blessed we have been to have those loving memories.💝

Happy Mother’s Day! I wasn’t able to click on the video of the butter. I also wasn’t able to click onto the Barebells bar. which I look amazing! Enjoy the day!!

Love Christina Murphys’ apt, she has a great eye for detail and deign Love how the majority of her artwork is so neutral yet she is so bold with the marble. LOVE the dining rm wallpaper and how perfectly it works with the furnishings.
(my favourite rm). My favourite design style is a mixture of traditional and contemporary, keeps the space interesting! Thank you for sharing.

Tina, your Mom & mine shared March 15 as their birthday! My Mom died in 2002 & I still miss her so much every day but I know she is always with me. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Yes, the candles are beautiful but I, too, would love an unscented version. I find myself using a majority of unscented beeswax candles and our home always feels so fresh.

Oh how we love and miss our mothers! And what a gift to have had mothers worth missing! So many don’t…..
The candles are beautiful, but sadly many give me headaches as well. I’m fine with them outdoors however. That collection is beautiful!

Love the rooms you designed for your client so beautiful! Also the NYC apt has a nice peaceful vibe.
Do love the candies, I love a well scented candle especially if made with essential oils but know many like an unscented candle so maybe both options. They are beautiful!
Loved the butter video. I showed it to my husband and watched it twice. The French do almost everything with such dedication and integrity- even butter! I look forward to tryig both the mascara and power bars, your recommendations are always top notch.
ENJOY YOUR MOTHER’S DAY! I am taking a blog reading break before we welcome 14 people over for an early Mother’s Day dinner!

A very Happy Mothers Day to you also. I hope you have a spectacular day with your family!

Have a beautiful and blessed Mothers Day. The room sketches you shared for the apt you’re designing are gorgeous. You have impeccable taste!

PS, the candles are gorgeous… I would love unscented as my sister suffers from epilepsy in some sense or unknown triggers for her

Try David’s bars to – 28 grams of protein – 3 grams sugar – 150 calories and 3to 4 points on WW – they hit the spot and Happy Mothers Day!!!!!!

The gardenia candles you used to carry were my all time favorite. Would be thrilled to be able to get that scent again.

Tina,
Happy Mother’s Day week! Lovely post and I must sit down with a cup of tea and watch the butter making video!
This is a hard week to be without our Moms and Grandmothers. I miss mine SO much and yes, even when enjoying the day with grandbabies and being so thankful, the memory of their suffering close to the end will sneak in around the edges of a fun family meal and gift bags, flowers and the gleeful sounds of little ones right by your side. WITHOUT warning. Tina, we can NOT “unsee” what we saw our moms going through and I think the intensity of this is due to great love. I’m at 13 years now with my mom passing and I have learned to just accept when the visions of those moments crowd my thoughts for just a min. or so. When it happens, sometimes even during the happiest of times, I conjure up a vision of her face in one of HER happiest moments.
Just yesterday, Mother’s Day, it happened and I did that thing of thinking of her smiling face in one of HER happiest moments and my daughter asked, “what are you smiling about Mom?” I replied, ” Just thinking about your grandmother showing off one of her culinary creations during a special dinner”. I was not aware that I was noticeably smiling.!

Those candles are gorgeous. If you bring them back could you please consider other colours.

I’m very picky about candles as they often introduce false fragrances and toxins into your home. Would not consider anything that was not totally clean.
