Hello and Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. Besides getting food poisoning on Thursday, mine was quite nice. Had a lovely group dinner with friends, got to visit with an out of town friend and spent a lot of time on baby shower prep! Tokay I am hosting a baby shower for my daughter in law, and I think there’s. few clues as to what she is having:) I felt rusty with my entertaining skills but with my lists upon lists, happy to say I feel fully organized and ready to get this show on the road a little later today! Back to work and onward to my post today…
1 BABY SHOWER PREP! Today by the time you read this post I will be knee deep in baby shower prep for a shower for my daughter in law. I felt a bit rusty, had lots of lists (both paper and on my phone) all over the place, spent the week totally overthinking every single detail (hate to say it, but I am getting worse as I get older)! But am very happy with how everything is turning out. Took a few pictures while I was getting everything together, will do a complete post on the shower in a week or two. Hoping for a happy day!
So excited to use our newest arrival- these fabulous dinner and salad/dessert plates!! (click here to see them)
Peonies will be going in these small vases and are on of the favors to take home….
Love our little blue and white containers for all kind of things but they are perfect for condiments, holding sugar packets, sugar, etc…
And my trusty tea box was filled
Operation peony-accomplished!
2 THE DOWNSIDE OF AI I watched this on 60 minutes a few months ago, and while I find AI both fascinating and terrifying, I do feel the more we know the more we can prepare for what’s to come and even in safeguarding our identities, what we share, etc…
3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Love this beautiful assortment of instagrams…

4 A WONDERFUL HOUSE TOUR So enjoyed this gorgeous house tour, and from the exterior reminds me quite a bit of my own. Love how they brought it to present day living in fiction, colors, etc…just a lovely and inviting elegant home.
5 2 GREAT LIGHTWEIGHT SUMMER BLOUSES I bought these two, both from Reiss. I love the label, the make some beautiful things and I own several pieces from them. They are so feminine and I love that both can be dressed up or down. Perfect summer blouses with sleeves! Love both with crisp white pants. Perfect for summer.
6 A FANTASTIC FISH DISH I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT! If you love fish, then you will love this classic French recipe. Not many ingredients, but oh so tasty and actually an elegant dish, nice to make for a dinner party as well. I love it and honestly kind of forgot about it, but was at the seafood market and they had just gotten in fresh so it jogged my memory and oh boy, was it ever so so good. Definitely going to start making this regularly.
2tsplemon zest, from half a large lemon, lemon used for sauce and/or for serving
1tspKosher salt
¼tspfreshly ground black pepper
2large eggs
2Tbspneutral oil
2Tbspunsalted butter,divided
2TbspFresh parsley or chives, chopped, plus morefor serving
Flaky sea salt, for serving
Make the dredge. Combine ⅔ cup almond meal, 2 Tbsp flour, 2 tsp lemon zest, 1 tsp Kosher salt, and ¼ tsp black pepper in a mixing bowl, then whisk well. Place 2 eggs in a shallow bowl, then whisk.
Dredge the fish. Pat fish filets dry on all sides with a paper towel, then place in the bowl with the egg and coat on all sides. Allow excess egg to drip off, then place in the almond mixture. Cover completely, then press firmly to make sure it’s evenly coated on all sides. Set aside, then repeat with remaining sole filet.
Pan sear the sole. In a large nonstick skillet, heat 2 Tbsp neutral oil and 1 Tbsp butter over medium-high heat. When the butter has melted, add 2 fish fillets to the pan and cook for 2 minutes per side, or until a light golden brown crust has formed. Using a fish spatula, carefully flip the fish over and cook an additional 1-2 minutes more. Transfer to a serving plate. Repeat with remaining fish fillets, adding the last tablespoon of butter.
Finish the sauce, then serve! Squeeze the juice of half of a lemon into the remaining butter, then stir until well mixed. Taste, adjust seasoning, and then stir in 2 Tbsp chopped parsley or chives. Pour or spoon the sauce on top of the sole, then garnish with additional fresh parsley or chives and a pinch of flaky sea salt. Serve with lemon wedges on the side, if wanted.
7 SUNDAYS SURVEY Ever have a minute that makes you so nostalgic for something in the past? I am talking a really strong emotion that is triggered by a sight, sound or smell? It happened the other day to me- I was getting out to run an errand , it was an absolute incredibly beautiful day and quite breezy. As I got out of my car, a huge wave of nostalgia swept over me, it literally stopped me in my tracks and I closed my eyes and took the moment in.
I was brought back to Montauk, where we used to rent a house every summer, kids were young-ish and life was so good. It was so relaxing, really beachy, the weather was always so beautiful and there was always that unmistakable ocean breeze. It was really a moment. So…if you could bring something back, what would it be for you? Choose 2.
And that’s a wrap! Hope you enjoyed my Sunday post. Always nice to hear from you, and see what if anything resonated with you. I will be busy hosting today, so I am glad I got hits done ahead of time. Look forward to sharing highlights with you soon. Have a wonderful day. Until next time….

Civility and kindness are still all around us. I was in NYC over Memorial Day weekend. It was rainy, blustery, crowded, and just lovely. Everyone made it work — subway rides were packed and completely functional. It was a perfectly oiled honor system that involved everyone. Same on the streets, in the restaurants, wherever we went.
Perhaps (generic) you are nostalgic for formality. Nothing wrong with that. But it’s a disservice to those around us to make blanket statements of deteriorating consideration.
Congratulations to Natasha! Everything looks perfect for the baby shower. Can you share the brand and pattern of the dessert plates in the first photo?
Wow that shower is going to be incredible! I cannot wait to see more! Trying your recipe..every recipe i have tried of yours has been a hit!
Love Reiss, we have a Bloomingdales near us and they carry a lot of their clothing, so pretty.
I would bring back family dinners (kids are teens now and in many directions with sports, etc..) We are lucky if we get a family dinner once every few weeks. Civility is dead in this country. No manners anymore. People speak what ever is on their mind and think nothing of taking out their cell phones and capturing anything remotely eyebrow raising. It is getting worse (at least in the U.S.) ,My husband is from Switzerland its very different there, a much more courteous society.
Thankfully the weather has cleared after last night storm!! Lots of trees down on Long Island.
The shower for Natasha is going to be amazing. You are going to love having a Granddaughter. I have 5 and 2 Grandsons.
Enjoy today. Can’t wait to see the shower pictures!
Love the pink peonies for the baby shower for the soon coming grand-daughter. My daughter was having a boy and we used all my blue and white vases and ginger jars and ordered 200 blue and white hydrangeas and filled all the vases and jars to the brim. It was lovely for a baby boy baby shower!
