Hello and happy Friday morning. Well, time for another Renovation Diaries and this one is heavy on pictures taken on the job site. Always fun to share especially now that we are in the more exciting stage…baby steps! I think if we are lucky we may be able to move in Feb/March. So, we take it one day at a time but it’s fun to share the journey as we go along. I know I also really enjoy, following other peoples journeys so on that note, let’s take a look at the latest.
The key word these last few weeks might be trim, its well underway and looking great!
Also added the beautiful thassos marble subway tiles to wall with chair rail and black pencil, I love how classic and vintage this feels
Starting to get into the original part of the house, this is the linen closet hallway (linen closet to right is staying) I love it and its special to keep certain parts of the original house
Then I painted it ad showed it with the floors finished to get an idea of what it will look like when done…
Another guest bath getting done, they are putting in all the shower jambs this week and added the thassos subway tile to shower, completed shower boxes
Meanwhile landscaping has begun, which is exciting! I thought it would be done at the very end but this is the season for them to plant so they are working alongside the building crew
Had fun doing a little mockup of seeing it with the shutters in place and light hung
First coat of paint!
Back entrance, new columns have been put in to replace the old ones
There is about 4 ft of brick wainscotting around the house, we are trying out colors and finishes for the brick. The brick chimney’s are all painted white but we may do a white wash, still deciding
Lots of plantations going in
Exciting to see my future vanity/makeup table for my bathroom in its finishing stages
More vanities in progress…all from Rail and Stile, love their work
Still not made a decision on my powder room so that room remains an empty shell. I keep experimenting and am torn! I love handpainted chinoiserie panels so much and likely will go that route, however this is so pretty too, lacquered panels with antiqued mirror. Do you have a favorite?
We have a small library off the main entrance and from the first time I saw it I knew I wanted to lacquer it one day. I thought I was going to do a soft blue/gray but then I put in these darker colors and couldn’t get them out of my mind. I am leaning towards the navy. But the green is pretty too! I know one thing, when it’s done, it will be the coziest room of the house. What’s your fave?
I used to buy remnants of old French textiles, from brands like Le Manach and Lelievre a few I had made into a few pillows, one I even had made into a beautiful small evening clutch. I was going through an old batch of remnants and was imagining the patterns translated into more modern colors and tweaks and thought how beautiful they could be as wallpaper and here’s what I came up with. I could see these either in a bedroom or bathroom, the wheels are turning:)
And that’s the latest! November promises to be an exiting months as we will start getting in our vanities and kitchen and pantry due to be delivered around mid November so that will certainly be a big turning point.
So stay tuned and thanks for following along. Until next time….
Everything is spectacular. Love your bathroom marble selections, so timeless. I love the navy library and though I too am a fan of chinsoiserie anything you are making a strong argument for the mirrored one, wow! This is such fun to follow along with your magnificent project.
I love both powder looks but the antiqued mirror gets the nod from me as I’m thinking there’s probably already going to be a wallpaper look similar to the chinoiserie used elsewhere in the house and the mirrored look is exquisite! I love the navy lacquered walls but not a fan of the plaid carpet in there. Your home is going to be gorgeous when finished. *Your black shutters are the perfect exterior jewelry!
I love the green library because it is not quite so dark and it will really show off your blue and white accessories! I can see a small sofa or two wing chairs in shades of green and blue as well. I can’t wait to see it finished!
Your new home will be beautiful! I know you have said this will be your last move. Are you planning on putting an elevator in your home? I know you have mentioned knee issues in the past. With all of the steps in your new home, is this something you have considered? We have a large tri-level home & at the end of the day, the steps are a killer!

They are both very pretty. I think a dark brown lacquer would be beautiful.
