Hello, how are you on this fine spring day? Well truth is, it’s not feeling much like spring over here, its overcast and downright cold (40’s) but I am channeling my inner springy vibes knowing that better weather is on the way!
I am so happy winter is behind us, at long last. Along with a new season comes a time to change things up whether its adding flowers to my home, planning out a garden or changing things around inside. I am still unsure what to do in my office as it has a funny tray ceiling which makes the idea of wallpaper rather challenging.
If I were to do a paint, there is no doubt I would use a super high gloss, I am a little obsessed with it and am shocked I don’t yet have a space that is shellacked in the glossiest paint I can buy. I had a room in my old house where I used glossy paint in a pale caramel and must say it was one of my favorite spaces. I have seen so many rooms and pieces of furniture that I love in high gloss that it made the perfect subject for a post.? Would love to know your thoughts on the matter. Love it as much as I do?
Let’s take a look at how glossy paint really ups the ante on high octane design!

There are several spaces above that I am madly in love with, I know I will be trying it somewhere! And how about you? Do you love the look, perhaps have already delved into a bucket of glossy paint yourself? What is your favorite color?

I love the look of lacquered paint on walls and furniture. Dying to paint a few of my pieces in a colored lacquer?beautiful post, Tina!! Hope you’re having a great week!
Haha, well you know me, so I don’t think it is my style, but I have admired it in certain applications. Hoping Spring is on its way, I am with you on that one…its been a LONG winter.
This post was very timely for me as I was vacillating about how “hi gloss” to go in a bathroom remodel I’m doing in an old log cabin. I think you have given me the courage to throw caution to the wind and go for it.
I’m looking for your recipe for a chicken recipe you posted a while back chicken parmesan can’t remember but looked so good. Hot dish not salad. Thanks.
I just saw an image yesterday of a mudroom in medium blue high gloss. It was stunning (and I want it). I think it is such an elegant look that works perfectly with Antique or modern pieces. It’s not a new look, but one that is making more of a resurgence. Getting a professional to apply it is the important step to take.
See…I just love that lacquered look!! We have lacquered cabinets in the “bunk” room and I just lacquered a chest of drawers…it just…gets to you!! franki
Hi Tina, Stay dry today – it is indeed a dreary one out there. I hear the weekend is supposed to be glorious and I am so excited since we are headed to Newport!! I am a huge fan of lacquered walls – my “green room”/adult family room has the most gorgeous dark green lacquered walls with dove white trim – it is my favorite room in my house. Enjoy the rest of your week, my dear! Hope to see you next week! xoxo
Hi Tina, I love the idea of a space in my home done in a high gloss finish. I have a small elevator that I think would be a great place to start. Thinking of a Chinese red 🙂
YES, YES, YES..GO WITH ANY COLOR HIGH GLOSS. I AM 52 AND GROWING UP THATS ALL MY MOM DID IN OUR HOUSE WAS GLOSSY….SHE WAS AHEAD OF HER TIME!!!! GO FOR IT!!!
Tina I agree with you these are all fabulous! I have seen many of these rooms but some are new to me and they look fabulous. I might have to try this in a bathroom, start small and move up.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful images! And for the inspiration.
Totally love the look Tina! We painted one of our little powder rooms a glossy dark navy and I am so happy I did .. great look and works well with gold accent pieces. Have great day!
Lacquered look, perfect. As your example, any color can be spectacular. Front door, powder room good place to,start.
Nina Campbell has a few examples in her book Interiors. Very
spectacular. Spring will be Eastward bound soon. It is only April. Enjoy the cool days and all the beautiful blooms. Have a
Delightful week, Tina. Thanks for all your creativity.
I thought something was wrong with me because I have always loved gloss and was adamantly told by painters and decorators that I needed to tone it down and go completely matte. I usually caved in, but now that I have seen your gorgeous pics, I think it’s time to call back the painters! You should go for it, Tina! Starts glossing up your office and go from there!!
I adore where you go and your style and taste. So fantastic!
Sending springtime wishes your way?.
Tina,
Well a shiny package arrived from you today and I am feeling very special! Thank-you!
Normally, I am not a high gloss kinda gal, but I do love it. I love those happy yellow doors!
It sure elevates a room! I say shine on!!!!!

Sorry that the weather is bringing more cold and showers than flowers. It was sooooo cold in Paris last week – it felt colder than when I was there a year ago in January, no joke. Hope some warm breezes come your way soon!
LOVE the look of lacquered paint. Sue just got it so right didn’t she? I think this look would be perfect in your office. We did dark gray ultra shiny walls in our powder room and I just love them. Shine on, I say!
All those new blue and white beauties look very tempting, Tina!
I love the glamorous look of a high gloss paint. When I own another home one day, I’m going to paint the front door a rich glossy black – that is my favorite look! Enjoy your weekend!

My favorites – glossy gray, glossy white, and, of course, glossy black doors are fabulous?.
This post was very timely for me as I was vacillating about how “hi gloss” to go in a bathroom remodel I’m doing in an old log cabin. I think you have given me the courage to throw caution to the wind and go for it.
I love the glossy, sassy fresh look. Blue would be my color of choice (since we have so much of it in our home).
Foggy here on the west coast, however, the sun will shine through at some point this morning.
Happy Thursday Tina!

WOW!! I loved this post!!!
I love high gloss. I used a gloss in my powder room in my last house and I loved it. The powder room is the perfect place to use a gloss.
