Hello, friends! I hope you\u2019re all having a great week so far. I\u2019ve really been enjoying these casual chats where we talk about a little bit of everything\u2014I love hearing your feedback and opinions. Sometimes, it validates how I feel about something, and other times, it opens my mind to a new perspective, which I truly appreciate. I am as I have done in previous posts, adding random pretty pictures for some visual prettiness just because it breaks up the text.<\/em><\/p>\n

Today, I want to talk about aging and skin, have a feeling this will be a topic many of you will want to weigh in on and can resonate with.<\/p>\n

Not that I love<\/em> talking about it, but as most of you know, I turned 60 this year\u2014a milestone that still feels a little surreal! I certainly don’t feel 60 and many say I don’t look it, so I have that in my favor:)\u00a0 Best compliment was on a few occasions, people thinking I was Philip’s mom, talk about an ego boast! There\u2019s just something about hitting a number that starts with a six that feels different from anything in the fives, and I\u2019m still getting used to it.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always believed and preach to anyone who will listen,\u00a0 that age is a state of mind. My father\u2019s side of the family had incredible longevity\u2014my great grandmother lived to 102, and my grandmother to 99. They were both remarkable, and I\u2019m certainly hoping I inherited those genes:) I remember friends who are a little older than me saying that once you hit your late 50s and early 60s, you start to feel the changes. I thought that was a myth. Well, I\u2019m here to tell you\u2014it\u2019s not! I\u2019ve definitely noticed shifts, especially in my skin and sometimes achy joints when I wake up (especially if I played pickleball the day before)<\/p>\n

I see more fine lines, and my skin is much drier\u2014especially on my hands. I\u2019m not thrilled about it, but I also recognize that aging is a privilege, so I won\u2019t complain too much. I\u2019ve always taken a natural approach\u2014no procedures, no Botox\u2014but for the first time, I\u2019m considering visiting a dermatologist to see what subtle, low-key treatments might help with fine lines and elasticity. I know there is so much innovation and new technology out there, its almost overwhelming to read about the options!<\/p>\n

I know for sure that fillers aren\u2019t for me (or my husband\u2014he\u2019s not a fan either), but I\u2019m curious about gentle treatments that enhance without altering. I am a total newbie at this game and have only had 2 facials in my entire life. The last one I reacted to so it kind of scared me away.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d love to hear your thoughts! Have you tried anything that made a difference? I\u2019ve been using the A-313 cream from Paris (a cult favorite in France), after a month, the results are subtle\u2014though maybe I just need to give it more time.<\/p>\n

My skincare routine is very simple: I wash my face morning and night, use the cream a few times a week, apply vitamin C almost daily,\u00a0 and recently started using an eye cream. I use a rich emollient from Maya Chia that I love when my skin is feeling extra dry (often). Twice a month I have stated using these peels that apparently the models from Victoria’s Secret use and must say, I love them I will be sharing both of these products on my Sunday post.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it! I know I could probably be doing more, but I\u2019ve always kept it minimal. My favorite hand cream is Gold Bond, but sometimes in the winter, even that doesn’t seem to be enough so,\u00a0 if you have a great rich hand cream recommendation while we are at it, I am all ears!<\/p>\n

My mom had beautiful skin, but she was never a sun lover like I once was. I\u2019m lucky to have inherited her good skin, especially considering how much time I\u2019ve spent in the sun.\u00a0 I realize now that I may be late to the game but better late than never! I will be curious to see what this future dermatologist has to say, this will be only the second dermatologist appt in my life, the first was for a severe case of poison ivy. So I will be open to what is suggested….hopefully nothing involving a needle!<\/p>\n

I have to admit\u2014I\u2019m a bit of a chicken when it comes to trying new treatments and am very skeptical, the kind of person who is always looking for\u00a0 reasons to not<\/em> do them yet I know the results even from something simple like a great facial can not only make you\u00a0 look good, but feel better too.\u00a0 So,\u00a0 I\u2019m keeping an open mind and would love to hear any insights you have. What\u2019s worked for you? Any skincare must-haves or tips?<\/p>\n
