Hi there, hope this finds you well! I am finally happy to share a new renovation post with you. To be honest, not a lot<\/em> has happened as we are in a bit of holding pattern waiting for one chimney to come down and waiting on windows. But there has been some movement and trust me, every little step feels joyous to me! We are putting on a slate roof and that was delivered so that was exciting.\u00a0 I don’t go there very often (once a week or ten days) as we are not yet at the stage where there’s much to see day to day but in a month or so that will change and I will be going over a lot more often!<\/p>\n

Next post I am going to start sharing my design ideas for certain spaces. Definitely my favorite part! I have my first kitchen cabinetry appt this week which is quite exciting. And I am gathering lots of ideas\/pictures in my online folders for inspiration for certain spaces. The one thing I miss about that house the most is the light, it has beautiful natural light and it makes the spaces feel so inviting. The house we are in is beautiful and stately but very dark. I have a hard time trying to take lifestyle shots, proof of how important natural light is. Light is really important to me, always has been.<\/p>\n

OK enough of my jabbering, here we go with the latest….<\/p>\n

So is what things look like right now, framing is done. Roof is plastic sealed. Waiting on windows which turned out to be a major and long ordeal but they are in production and should be here within 2-3 months. With prices going up, up,up…we bought the roof a few months ago so that has already been delivered but will not be put on for a month or two. So, let’s take a look around….<\/p>\n

The main base of the house remains but will get new roof and windows<\/p>\n

Above the right side is all the new section hard to see with the trees<\/p>\n

We will keep the beautiful pediment, it is so stately and classic<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Seeing it from the back gives you a much better idea<\/p>\n

The 5 pictures below show our master bedroom taken down to the studs-\u00a0 one wall even (to our surprise) revealed a brick wall! The building team and engineer marveled at the quality of the wood used to frame this house 100 years ago. They said that if it were sale, we could literally sell this quality wood ass they do not build with this thickness and quality of wood any more…you never know what peeling back the layers will reveal!<\/p>\n

Above is the sitting room and where my closet and bathroom were, now its a big open space being reconfigured..<\/p>\n

This goes from the sitting room to the actual bedroom, its a bright sunny space which I love and yes, we kept all the doors and moldings<\/p>\n

The view is one of the best parts especially in the spring and of course the way the sunlight floods the room<\/p>\n

We are raising the ceiling here and will add shiplac with a chandelier in center<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Downstairs this will eventually be our kitchen and breakfast room, took out the fireplace in middle to open up the space and lo and behold an old hidden fireplace was revealed on the far left in breakfast room (where you see the cutout) so we are possibly going to use that and create a fireplace in the breakfast room, there will be french doors at end and the opening to the right will lead to a covered porch also accessible from family room<\/p>\n

Above would be if you were sitting at the kitchen island looking into the breakfast room\/patio<\/p>\n

This below is the big sink window above the sink-<\/p>\n

A hallway leading to the family room\/mudroom\/side entrance (I will put lanterns here instead of high hats)<\/p>\n

Our future family room, certainly our favorite room so far. Almost identical to our old family room (this one is a little longer) and has better views:)<\/p>\n

An eventual stair hall is quite dramatic, 3 stories…look forward to seeing this come to life!<\/p>\n

The cupola feels like a work of art, such mastery! There will be glass panels.<\/p>\n
