Seriously. I went online to order\u00a0 two items (gifts) from Neiman Marcus that were fairly expensive. The whole process was a little confusing because I wanted second-day air shipping, yet under each item\u2019s description, it said the product ships directly from the vendor and listed a ship-by date. Naturally, I then decided to call customer service to confirm If I pay for second-day air, does that override the vendor\u2019s ship-by date? I was assuming \u201cships by\u201d applied only to regular ground shipping. I needed these items by Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132237\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/620587ad636e6652111762ccf974828a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"685\" height=\"787\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/620587ad636e6652111762ccf974828a.jpg 685w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/620587ad636e6652111762ccf974828a-261x300.jpg 261w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 685px) 100vw, 685px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first girl who answered had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. I asked her to get a supervisor on the phone, and she told me there wasn\u2019t one available. Instead, she offered to connect me to someone else. Twelve minutes later, she finally transferred me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-132239\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/c059aac2661059245cf7dd88122bef24.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"637\" height=\"848\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/c059aac2661059245cf7dd88122bef24.jpg 555w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/c059aac2661059245cf7dd88122bef24-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, a second woman picks up, and I explain everything all over again. I told her I needed these items by Friday because they\u2019re gifts. Again, she couldn\u2019t answer me. Her exact words were:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell\u2026it\u2019s a risk you might be taking, so I can\u2019t really answer that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Excuse me? I\u2019m trying to pay for expedited shipping, and no one can tell me if I\u2019ll actually get my order in time?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132236\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/6b78cd85c0939d746e995b877d250e07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/6b78cd85c0939d746e995b877d250e07.jpg 683w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/6b78cd85c0939d746e995b877d250e07-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So I asked her to get me a manager, and I was willing to wait.<em> Twenty-four minutes<\/em> into this circus, a gentleman finally gets on the phone. As nice as he was, he still couldn\u2019t clarify whether overnight shipping or 2nd day shipping would guarantee delivery by Friday. He could not tell me if the vendor would honor the expedited shipping and ship it out as per the shipping I was willing to pay for.\u00a0 He basically told me my best bet was to call a local Neiman Marcus store to see if they had the items in stock, or else just roll the dice and place the online order. I was annoyed like you can&#8217;t believe but recgonized I was getting no where so decided to do that.<\/p>\n<p>So that\u2019s where debacle number two began.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132238\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/afc6582a32a3b87752bf69aa4b3bf251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"812\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/afc6582a32a3b87752bf69aa4b3bf251.jpg 812w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/afc6582a32a3b87752bf69aa4b3bf251-238x300.jpg 238w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/afc6582a32a3b87752bf69aa4b3bf251-768x969.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 812px) 100vw, 812px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I called my local Neiman Marcus. The phone prompts alone were enough to drive me insane. The first option was for returns. The second prompt \u2014 I kid you not \u2014 was for the restaurant. Keep in mind, this store has a &#8220;restaurant&#8221;\u00a0 that is about the size of a postage stamp. Why that\u2019s the second priority, I have no clue. How about CUSTOMER SERVICE!<\/p>\n<p>The<em> seventh<\/em> prompt was finally to speak to a customer service person. It rang and rang and rang. No one picked up. I called back. The operator answers, and I tell her I\u2019m trying to reach a specific department. She puts me on hold, and again it rings off the hook. After what felt like a dozen rings, she comes back and says, \u201cThere\u2019s no one available. I can take a message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-132235\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/3fa3d3bd4544d037667f2243f835478d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"642\" height=\"859\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/3fa3d3bd4544d037667f2243f835478d.jpg 536w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/3fa3d3bd4544d037667f2243f835478d-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A message?! I\u2019m calling a national luxury department store and can\u2019t reach a single human being in an actual department.<\/p>\n<p>I told her I needed to speak with management because the same exact thing happened the last time I was trying to find a pair of shoes months ago, it all came back to me. It was so absurd I hadn\u2019t forgotten it.<\/p>\n<p>And then she says something that left me stunned:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cManagement does not accept phone calls. They only take messages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132240\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/f392f8245f83cd4cefd2935350b37b32.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/f392f8245f83cd4cefd2935350b37b32.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/f392f8245f83cd4cefd2935350b37b32-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What planet am I living on? If I ran my own business this way, I\u2019d be out of business tomorrow. I\u2019m completely stumped \u2014 and beyond annoyed. I had my heart set on buying those gifts at Neiman Marcus, but instead, I took my business elsewhere. Out of curiosity however I did leave my. name and number not to help with placing an order any longer but as an opportunity to speak to a manager about the abysmal service.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t take another minute so promptly looked up another store. Found on and that particular retailer made it easy, seamless, and fast.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly and honestly, I don\u2019t think Neiman Marcus is alone. I think this is widespread \u2014 and getting worse by the day. It\u2019s incredibly disappointing. I used to be a big Neiman Marcus customer, but as I watched them decline, I started losing interest. After this experience, I can say with 100% confidence that I have zero interest in shopping at Neiman Marcus ever again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132241\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/c35d62e4330f8d6931262e9afc98880e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"685\" height=\"790\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/c35d62e4330f8d6931262e9afc98880e.jpg 685w, https:\/\/wp.enchantedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/c35d62e4330f8d6931262e9afc98880e-260x300.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 685px) 100vw, 685px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Because of this whole fiasco? Nearly an hour of my day, completely wasted.<\/p>\n<p>And the kicker? About six hours later, I get a text from Neiman Marcus saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou forgot items in your cart\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thanks, but no thanks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">PS Did I ever get a call back from the &#8220;management office&#8221;? No.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>Writing this out made me feel better but I just cannot get over how bad this was. I mean this is Neiman Marcus! I think I could have gotten better service at The Dollar Tree! How about you, have you seen service falling to the wayside in general? It is sad to me as I think this in general, this is a trend in retail that is moving in that direction.<\/p>\n<p>Not sure if it because they are short staffed ( it is reputed as a company they have been in financial trouble) but they were a store in particular that prided themselves on supreme customer service.
