1 HAMPTONS HIGHLIGHTS Was a lucky house guest for a few days and had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay in the beautiful Hamptons. It was exceptionally hot (though by the ocean we had a breeze) but eating outdoors for dinner almost felt like eating in a sauna. I don’t’ remember it ever feelings so hot! However we had the best time. I will be doing a separate post on the Hamptons as I get a lot of questions from people out of town wanting to visit and wanting recommendations. Here are a few of the beautiful highlights….

2 A WONDERFUL NANTUCKET COTTAGE What a charmer! If you have ever dreamed of having a small beach cottage surrounded by hydrangeas, this is a tour you don’t want to miss. Beautiful things do come in small packages.

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Stunning rotund up in keeping with a beachy/Hamptons/Nantucket theme….

4 A BEAUTIFUL ZINNIA LUNCH PARTY I loved this table by talented James Farmer, I would love to try and recreate this maybe next summer during zinnia season. The colors are so inviting and for me personally the icing on top was seeing the basket weave flatware on the table! Just gorgeous, click here to read the entire article over at Flower Magazine.

5 A DELICIOUS AND EASY RATATOUILLE Made this last week and forgot just how good it is! Its perfect as a pairing for anything on the grill, and goes great with fish too. Going to start making it more often, super flavorful and especially with the seasons abundance of vegetables, its a great time to make this dish.

  • 1 medium-large eggplant (1 pound), cut into ½-inch pieces
  • Sea salt
  • 6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more as needed
  • 2 medium zucchini (1 pound), cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 red or yellow bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, and cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 pound tomatoes on the vine (3 to 5), cut into ½-inch pieces
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of cane sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves, plus more torn basil for garnish

Prepare the Eggplant, wash and cut into small pieces. Drain in colander and sprinkle with sea salt. Heat 3 tbsp of olive oil in skillet and add eggplant on low/med, cook until tender about 10-15 min, set aside

Same skillet add another TBSP of olive oil, cook the chopped zucchini and stir until tender but no mush (about 3-4 minutes) Add this to the side dish with the eggplant

Add a little more oil, add onion and bell pepper, cook about 4 minutes, then stir in garlic. Cook util totally tender about 10 min add a little sea salt. Add remaining olive oil to the onion and bellpepper then add chopped tomatoes, red pepper flakes and a pinch of cane sugar. Cook until tomatoes are broken down completely about 8 minutes

Return the cooked eggplant and zucchini to the skillet. Add 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves, ¼ teaspoon sea salt, and several grinds of freshly ground black pepper.

Cook, stirring occasionally, until the ratatouille thickens (about 10 to 15 minutes). Add chopped basil leaves on top. Bon appetit!

6 A MUST HAVE CREAM I had heard so much about this and honestly chalked it up to hype over the brand and really resisted buying it though it apparently is a must have for every professional makeup artist. Then,  a friend swears by it and raved about how it kept her makeup instact for her daughters wedding through the entire day/night and so I bought it and you know what…it IS amazing!

It acts as a primer for makeup whether you are using foundation, concealer or just tinted moisturizers and literally keeps it looking just like when you applied it for HOURS. Plus you can see and feel the hydration right away. It also gives your skin an immediate subtle glow so I was partially already sold but when I wore it to a few events and never once had to reapply anything I realized this stuff warrants the hype.  I love this cream and cannot recommend it highly enough! Go figure, some things really are worth the hype. Click here

7 SUNDAYS SURVEY We are down to the last month of summer, some schools in the south are already gearing up to head back to school and the unmistakable signs of fall are near- I am starting to see back to school ads, even Halloween merchandise! What’s your frame of mind knowing summer will be over in a matter of weeks? For me personally I LOVE fall so much and anticipate it every year so I am ready!

Late summer has become a wonderful time for me. The light is changing, nights are cooling a bit, flowers aref ading, walnuts are everywhere and the outside smells like memories.

Thinking about outdoor furniture. I am wondering what the good brands are now. They used to be Woodard and Meadowcraft but so much has changed. I love your site and blog!!!!

After what seems like weeks of 3 digit heat index…highs in 70s today…O, my…even attitudes improve!!! Luv your photos!! franki

Hi Tina ~ Love it all. Can you or your readers identify the china pattern (little fox with blue border) ? I thought for sure it was Ginori but can’t locate that and have done a reverse image search with unsuccessful results. I adore this and need to find it. Thank you for all you share with us and we still love 7 on Sunday and appreciate all the work you put into it. xox . T.
