Hello! Hope you are doing well and hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Hard to believe that as of today, just about every kiddo in America will be back in school which to me, means summer is over. On the home front, things are chugging along. The roughing is happening, dormers have been put in, all windows/french doors of the new section is done, roof is in progress. Things are happening! BTW, if you want to catch up on my previous renovation posts, click here.

We made a few changes which delayed things by a few weeks but changes in the end that were worth the temporary setback. We signed a contract for our kitchen (very exciting) and things are moving. It will never be fast enough for me but I do see progress. I go there about once a week so every time I go there is something new to get excited about. This week’s post is on random topics, but here is the latest with our renovation.

Dormers are in both front and back!

Roof is happening..

We added onto the basement, this is the “new section” we will have a movie room/great room, a wine cellar, a full bath, gym and a big storage room (for china, etc…) This is ironically similar to our old house in the way that this part of the house is walkout which is really nice and offers lots of natural light. In addition the big stairwell and the abundance of windows allows this space to feel very open not basement like.

For years, I have had a love for the combination of rust and blue (a dusty blue) and am going to somehow incorp0ortate this into one of the spaces in the new/old house. I also love how blue and white plays against this rich color combination. We also have a new order of our placemats/napkins coming early August and one of the color combos is in rust and blue.

Since my kitchen plan is pretty solid, as in I know what I want it to look like, I am now focusing on a pantry next to the kitchen and a back mud room. I definitely want to do the pantry in a super soft gray/blue. Most of the cabinets in there will be glass fronted and I will carry on with the delft tiles. I absolutely love this color from Farrow and Ball

For the mudroom, I fell in love with just about everything in this picture and will likely do a rendition of this space. Love the green and plan on incorporating more green along of course, with my beloved blue and white.

And that’s the latest! There will be much more to share in the coming weeks/months as decisions are being made fast and furiously. To know this is the last house we will build/renovate is bittersweet, hearing it’s the “last” of anything makes me kind of sad. On the other hand, we think of this as our forever home and want to be really mindful of all the decisions that we make.

Look forward to sharing the progress as we move along further into the process. The fun (and best) parts are still yet to come. Thanks for stopping in, wishing you a great day! Until next time…

So lovely! Would you mind sharing the blue and green paint colors? Love following along!

Every choice is beautiful! So exciting! What color is the Farrow and Ball blue that is shown?

Beautiful!
If the F and B color shown is “light blue”, I just used it in my bedroom and bath. Love it!

Love the rust and blue idea board!! Do you have any info on the rug swatch in the upper right corner of the board?

Hi Norma, it looks like the Blue and Rust Antique Traditional Oushak Area Rug from Grace Home Decor. The website is gracehomedecor.com

I’m so house confused; did u sell your old house and build this as your permanent home? Or is this the one you’re renovating to sell?

So our old house that started my blog we sold. We bought this house as our “forever home” which we are doing a large scale renovation on. As we knew we would have to be out of it for approx a year and a half we were looking to rent something but ended up buying a house that belonged to a family member that we had long admired and that was for sale. We now have a beautiful home to live in and will decide what to do with it when we move back in to our “forever home”.

Liking the pale green. I’ve saturated with blue all life now I like green tones. Looks great with blue and white thungs
