Good morning, everyone! As I mentioned last time, renovation updates are going to be coming a little more often now that things are finally starting to happen. It’s exciting to see visible progress. The windows are being finished in the original part of the house, the dormers are in, and the roofing is being worked on as we speak. Our shower fittings even arrived yesterday—which may not sound glamorous, but it feels like the first tangible “real” item going into the house, and that’s exciting in its own way.

We’re definitely moving along and I’m hoping this pace continues. Lately more than ever, I’ve been craving that feeling of being home. I want to feel settled, to have my personal things unpacked and in their place. Right now I’m living between two worlds—making the best of where we are, but because I know it’s temporary, I haven’t really thrown myself into projects here. Instead, I’ve started planning out bathrooms, vanities, and little details. The kitchen is already finalized, which brings me to today’s topic: AI.

Wow—talk about warp speed! I am simply amazed by what AI is capable of, and I know I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface. It’s both fascinating and a little terrifying. The unsettling part is that it’s becoming harder to know whether what you’re looking at is real or AI-generated—and that can be dangerous once you cross that line. But keeping things light, I’ve been experimenting by plugging in some of the elements I know I’ll be using, and it was so much fun to see what AI came up with.

Granted, these are just simple concepts without the detailing, but it’s incredible to see them come to life in a matter of minutes. Compared to when we built our last home about 15 years ago, the tools available now are just mind-blowing. AI really is a godsend—especially for people who struggle to visualize things. Even though I’ve always considered myself pretty good at that, I can’t underestimate how helpful it is to have instant renderings of your ideas.

So today I’m sharing a bunch of AI-generated images—from kitchens to bathrooms to foyer flooring. It is not perfect and often requires several back and forth but its worth the effort!  It’s such a gift to be able to test-drive ideas visually, and I’m already finding it a huge help in making decisions and visualizing how things will look. OK onward…

Here are various kitchen images that came up plugging in various elements I plan to use-

Wouldn’t do navy but thought its so pretty next to the delft tile, there are a lot of mistakes here as you can see but its still fun to see the concept, sometimes you need to send several prompts to get it right-

Then I tweaked it a bit more and this looks so much better, have to say its very pretty!.

The delft tile is a given, I am already working with two companies on them, an exciting step forward. I have been planning on using polished nickel but have to say the antiqued brass definitely caught my eye-

We are changing the foyer to marble or limestone so it was fun to plug it in and see the variations, we are considering these carefully-

Then I did a little playing around with my bathroom concepts, leaning towards this vanity which will have a small make up table at end. I want to use one of our new fretwork lanterns, this is just a concept but it’s giving me a great visual-

But then I went back to an original design I loved and now totally torn. Would love your 0pinion. This is for my bathroom so I can make it feminine:

This is a loose concept do not pay attention to the mirror or hardware, the makeup table would not have the scallop on bottom..just a concept

So which do you like better (keeping in mind these are concepts- disregard the mirror placement, hardware and the scalloping on bottom of makeup table

And that’s a wrap…interesting isn’t’ it? Do you use AI? I am so fascinated by it but a little intimidated  by it too. I love using it for things like this but I find it a little unnerving how it will eventually seep into every aspect of every day life. Once it’s here, it’s here to stay- the genie is out of the bottle!  Thanks for stopping by, until next time….

This is so cool! Perhaps you could do a post about exactly how you generated these photos using AI for we newbies!

I love every single picture, cannot believe its AI! Cannot wait to see your kitchen and baths come together, so my taste. I chose polished nickel for kitchen, feel the brass is a trend.

To me, nothing screams old world elegance than the classic large black and white diamond patterned floor, some of our great buildings both here and in Europe have them and they are so beautiful and stately. Only caveat is you need a large space to pull it off, which you have so definitely gets my vote. The smaller pattern feels dated and the beige/white doesn’t do much.

I am so looking forward to following along on this journey!

Good Morning, Tina. Lovely designs and options as always! I’m hoping you will allow us to work with you on another range hood. We would love nothing more and look forward to hearing from you. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Cindy

Everything is so pretty. I can’t wait for it all to be in place!

What AI app are you using? I need something to design landscaping. I’ll take suggestions. Thanks!

We literally just moved into our addition last weekend. We’re very pleased. I’m an interior designer and you and I have similar styles. For the kitchen, I chose a Blue Star range in a blue gray color with cream colored glazed cabinets along with a walnut “dairy table” with drawers and under counter seating rather than an island. . Leathered Taj Mahal counters and Armac Martin aged brass cabinet hardware. The finish is stunning. Shaw sink and unlacquered brass Rohl faucet.

In our bathroom, we have honed limestone and the stone is beautiful and the coloring soft, but I wouldn’t put it in a foyer, because it’s softer than marble snd more prone to staining.

The elements of the kitchen are so beautiful. What company is going to make your delft tiles? I am considering it for a fireplace hearth.
I love the big black/white marble floor, the most classic and authentic looking.
I also love polished nickel. To me, brass feels like a trend and it can be flashy which does not appear to be your style. This is going to be a beautiful home. Can’t wait to see, my sister in law recommend your blog who has been a long time reader. Loving what I see so far.

I could not choose a wall paper to vote on because they already look dated. Why are you not using the fabulous papers I’ve seen? Is it price? Good Luck

Very confused by what you mean about choosing a wallpaper. This post has nothing to do with wallpaper! I have not even gotten close to deciding on wallpapers.

Hi – I saw an earlier post that you made weighing the pluses and minuses of a gas range versus induction. I am deciding whether to use a 48” Wolf gas/electric range or a 48” induction range. I remember reading some of the comments, but I didn’t see a decisive opinion. Now that a little moretime has passed, do you have any opinion on which range is more desirable? I would love your feedback. This is for a beach house and we’re big cooks! Thanks you.!

I agree with Susan. Also consider Christmas. Putting a large Christmas tree and Decorating with cedar and pine will look beautiful with the large black and white tiles in the foyer

Back to the vanities, the scalloping is having a moment right now, but when it fades you will still have scallops on your vanity, although as I type this I realize you could simply have them sawed off and the edge redone….also it’s your bathroom, and if you never move again, which is what you’ve said, and you continue to love scallops, who cares?!

OK loving your direction…and love your taste! please say you are doing the large black/white diamond floor. It is so classic and timeless! The beige is a trend and other is more run of the mill. You have a grand foyer that calls for a grand floor.

I love the kitchen snippets too, did you decide on wood or stone? I think the wood will make it feel warmer but both could work.

Both vanities are lovely. I do like the scallop also think its so feminine love the subtle bamboo detailing. This a fun project to follow!

Regarding the bathroom:
Love the very first rendition before other choices were presented, as I love the bamboo trim; love the antique brass; with a couple of changes. I would not use the scalloped aprons; would lower the backsplash over the makeup table so the mirror isn’t sitting on top of the backsplash, and follows the line of sight in that area, and follows the same dimensions of the larger preceding mirror with respect to mirror placement over the backsplash. You have a wonderful eye, and have found, in following you over a few years, your first thoughts are normally your best!

My vanity includes 3 drawers beside my chair and I find that very practical.
