***Change in schedule- we were due to hold our stocking presale today however did not get all of our professional images back yet so we will hold it later this week or early next***

Hi time for another Let’s Talk post. Today’s subject is one I have a feeling a lot of you will relate to… pajamas and movies. Could there be a better combination? In my opinion- no!

Lately, as I spoke about a month or so ago,  I’ve been on what feels like a solo mission to find the world’s coziest pajamas. My only prerequisite is that they have to be 100% cotton.  I ordered six different pairs to test out, and let me just say—I think I’ve found a few winners that I will be loyal to for life. I take my pajamas seriously and have a little collection as well as robes.

No reason to give up on style and prettiness even if you are at home.  The older I get, the more I realize that slipping into PJs is one of my very favorite parts of the day and an underrated luxury. Truthfully, if I get home in the afternoon—even if I’m going out later that evening—I’ll often slip them on, even if just for an hour or two.

But of course, the perfect scenario is when I don’t have to go out at all:) Just me, my pajamas, and a great movie. And of course all this especially applies in the colder months ahead, when the sun sets earlier and gets dark at 5pm- I kind of go into a quasi hibernation mode (when I can).

And speaking of movies… as I mentioned not long ago, I’ve found myself gravitating more and more to feel-good films. The kind that are light, uplifting, cinematically beautiful, and full of hope and inspiration. Let’s face it—the world can feel dark and heavy at times, especially lately, and these little escapes bring me a lot of joy. I love getting lost in a great movie. And the really good ones, you can watch over and over (and I do). Many on my list I have seen many many times.

So today I thought it would be fun to share my top 4 favorite pajama brands (plus a couple robes, because I couldn’t resist) after giving them all a test run and my list of 20 all-time favorite movies. I could go on forever with this list (and maybe I’ll do a Part Two someday!), but I’ll stop here for now.

And of course, I want to hear from you too.  What’s your go-to pajama brand? And do you have a favorite feel-good movie that always lifts your spirits? This should be such a fun and cozy conversation—I can’t wait to read your responses.

And onto movies, as I put this list up,I immediately thought of 5 or 6 others that needed to be included so like I said,  we will definitely have to do a part 2 for sure)!

I have a love/hate relationship with pjs and nightgowns. I love how they feel when I’m up and around but the hate comes in the middle of the night when the legs of pjs have shimmied up my legs and get bunched up. Nightgowns are similarly frustrating when I turn over and they get twisted. I refuse to wear flannel even on the coldest nights because they are like Velcro on the sheets and I can’t move at all. My least frustrating option is a knee length cotton gown that can be coaxed into coming with me to a new sleeping position. I think I must be a restless sleeper. :/

This is great timing! I need pj’s used to buy a private label pair from Saks religiously but they don’t make them anymore. I have heard good things about Petite Plume, going to give them a try.
Movies, so many on your list on faves of mine too- I loved also Great Gatsby, Love Story and Beaches to name a few!

Babette’s Feast is a beautiful movie.
Room With A View
The Way We Were
Annie Hall
Manhattan Murder Mystery
Fanny and Alexander
Prime of Miss Jean Brody

I wear the Cool Nights line from Soma exclusively. They are the only pjs and robes that keep me from sweating all night and actual feel cooling on the skin. They are very well made and soft.

I too love 100% cotton Pajamas. Thanks for the brands I’ve never heard of!

As for movies… Shining Through. A 1990’s Sleeper at the box office but a sensational WWii movie. Michael DOugla and Melanie Griffith. A War love story full of history, the triumph of the human spirit and the power of love on so many levels.

I am with you! We made a quick getaway to Maine with our kids this weekend and it was the perfect dose of fall that I needed (we live in FL, where fall is still a couple months away! Ha)

I do love my Lake pjs, although the long-length pants are not *quite* long enough (#tallgirlproblems).

Another brand I discovered this past year is BedHead Pajamas. They’re cotton with a touch of stretch so they hold their shape and come in such cute patterns. My first was a Parisian-themed print.

Barefoot Dreams is my go-to for lounge cardigans and super-cozy robes.

So happy to have your list of movies!
This is my new favorite movie:
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peal Pie Society
About an island in the English Channel in WWII. I think the name keeps people from watching it. Beautiful scenery, very good actors you’ll recognize.
Our new favorite series that all of our friends love: A Place to call Home.
1950’s Australia. Again, very good actors, the social issues of the time treated very well. Love the clothes of the period!

I travel all the time, so I buy pajamas that pack very small. I like sleeveless in case the room is warm (I can always throw on a sweater) I love your movie list! I would add Working Girl – a classic comedy – and The Black Stallion – a wonderful adventure story for the whole family: a visual masterpiece with gorgeous music, it’s a simple but powerful story. A boy lost at sea who finds strength, friendship and purpose through an extraordinary horse. A performance by the late great Micky Rooney earned him an Academy Award nomination. As a person who loves horses, I think you will take to it.

I totally agree with first post by Janet!
My favourite robes are with a front zipper., I could wear those all day. Hate re-tying and adjusting the ones with ties. (I don’t care if I look like an old lady as long as it’s comfortable and I don’t have to fidget)

Great movie list! So many of my favorites too- and a few that I need to check out. Love foreign films as well.

I own and adore the Petite Plume pj’s (the boxy cut is my favorite). Their cotton is the softest I have ever felt. So snuggly and comfortable.

Fun post. I love pj’s but normally only wear the bottoms as I do not like buttons. I use a pull over white tshirt instead. Heidi Carey also has wonderful robes, think you have spoken of that brand before.

Movies- my all time favorite is Out of Africa but there are so many good ones.

I completely agree with Janet! Flannel is like velcro. I only wear Nightgowns because pajamascreep up my inner thighs and bind in a very uncomfortable way.

Great movie list but my favorite is from 1942 (12 years before I was born) and it is “Holiday Inn” with Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Majorie Reynolds. My brother and I would check the TV guide to see when it would be on and then we’d wait for the scene with the exploding peach preserves! I still watch it every year multiple times…

Movies: Moonstruck, Field of Dreams, You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, The Holiday (but like all of yours as well)

Enjoy my pjs that look like dresses when home
Movies enjoy watching
Meet me in St Louis
Book club – both of them
Under the Tuscan Sun
Letters to Juliet
Mama Mia
Plus so many others- too many movies to list

I’m all about cozy pj’s and a feel good movie. A few of my favorites are That Touch of Mink, The Road Dance, Tie a Yellow Ribbon, The Holiday, Wicked, Secretariat

I love anything Jane Austen…Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, etc. old and recent versions. Who doesn’t like Mr. Darcy? Love many off your list and suggestions from postings. So glad we have access to them whenever we want.

Silky black leggings and Wrangler white men’s size L T-shirts (a dozen cheap at Walmart.com) These T-shirts are so soft, covers your hinny and great for putting on a great trench coat, tennis shoes and drive to Starbucks. You can cook breakfast, feed the dogs and clean up the kitchen in them, too.
