Good morning, everyone — I hope this finds you doing well. Can you believe it’s the Friday before Christmas? Somehow it really snuck up on us… or at least it did for me.
I’ve been thinking of this Christmas season as a bit of a hodgepodge for us. Not being in our permanent home, not having full access to all of my holiday décor, and being sidetracked by some unfortunate family illnesses — it’s all made for a less-than-organized holiday. But I truly did the very best I could. And at this point, I’ve surrendered to the idea that what’s done is done. I even bought a flocked tree to put in the dining room which still is in the box. It never happened, it will move to our next house and for sure will get put up next year! For now- you walk in, you see the pretty tree, the candles are glowing, and the whole house smells like the holidays — and honestly, that’s truly enough for me.
I’ve ordered lots of gifts online that are starting to arrive, so I’ll be kicking off a full-on gift-wrapping marathon on Monday. After that, I think I’ll finally be able to sit back and say, okay… I’ve done what I can, and that’s enough. All that’s really left is setting the Christmas table and planning out Christmas dinner. I only have two gifts left to buy, so I’m feeling pretty squared away.
It’s funny — sometimes we don’t give ourselves enough credit. It feels like there’s still so much to do, but when you actually write it all down, you realize… wait a minute, I’ve done a lot. I think many of us put way too much pressure on ourselves during the holidays. Maybe I’m getting a little wiser as I get older. I am work in progress in that dept!
I do look forward to next year, when we’ll finally be in our forever home. I have a feeling it will feel like everything has come full circle. But for now, I’m truly pleased with how things have come along. I embraced the darker, moodier vibe in this house — could I have done more? Absolutely. But did I do my best? Yes. And that’s what matters.
So here’s a little peek at what I’ve done so far. I’ll share a recap next week once the table is set. I hope everything is going smoothly on your end.
I do love my tree though its still not 100% done, bows never made it to the top and couldn’t find my tree topper..oh well
Really do love these rusty velvet bows with their long tails
These pretty red cones were among the items I found in storage boxes so they fit right in
Center hall table as you walk in, put a big spray of faux greens and berries inside a favorite ginger jar, easy peasy
Found these old amaryllis and they worked for this coffee table
Lots of paperwhites in various stages of blooming which will guarantee several will be in full bloom on Christmas
Many of you noticed this pillow in the back of my car the other day, and yes we are soon going to introduce. beautiful curated collection of needlepoint pillows similar to the ones we once had. They were so popular but unfortunately that company closed. So another door opens…
Dining room, just starting to set to table and figuring out what I will do here

Here’s to a Merry Christmas and hopefully a Happy New Year.
Thank you for sharing! 🎁🎄🎅🏻
All your efforts to make the Christmas Season beautiful & bright are just fabulous! Merry Christmas to you & your family!
❤️🎄🎅🏻❤️
Good morning, Tina. You’ve been such an inspiration to me and this post is no exception.
Yes, I can relate to Christmas sneaking up on me and finding myself without fuel in my “tank” to make it through the final push. It happens every year.
I suppose it really doesn’t matter if we accomplish everything we hoped for. What’s really important is that we are motivated to make our homes as beautiful as we can for the enjoyment and comfort of our family and friends. Our love of home and family is the catalyst. If we fall a bit short it’s okay. It’s been a labor of love and that’s what really matters.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to one and all!
I had to send your comments to a friend who shared with me that she was ‘over multitasking’’ and life wasn’t working. Thank you for sharing your same struggles.
Thank you for reminding us to recognize all that we do accomplish!
Your decor is GORGEOUS and so elegant and timeless! Do not underestimate how much you have done! I hear you about online shopping- best thing ever! 95% of my shipping was online including in your shop. The stockings and mini lamps are amazing.
Love the new pillows, I will be first in line. Merry merry!
Wow fit for a princess! You could have fooled me about not getting it all done. Compared to you I am just starting, haha. But we do a very casual holiday, we come up to Vermont to my brothers house and 12 of us cram into a 4 bedroom house and its full of food, games, chaos and it just feels like a tradition we are not ready to give up. My only responsibility is cooking Christmas eve dinner which is fun (and casual). Your decorations are simply beautiful- love the cloche covers.
I love all the red berries you use. Are any of them real? For years my husband cut wild Possum Haw here in OK for just about any friend who wanted to decorate with them. Sadly, this will be his second Christmas in memory care. Your comments do not sadden me, they bring great memories of helping him cut and deliver the gorgeous natural berries. He would then go to Walmart and wait for someone at the checkout who looked like they needed a gift. He would step in and pay for the whole cart and move on to the next until he ran out of cash. Thanks for invoking those two wonderful memories.
Beautiful, warm and inviting…the stage is set. I particularly love your center hall table. The family connections are the best. Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year!
I think you making it all work in this house will reward you with fabulous memories, even if the best bits are in storage. You will have your adorable grandson and the experiences at Christmas will be recorded in those special photos.
My sister from California has been with us for 6 months after her husband died.
I need quiet time for my creativity.
It’s great that she is here but can’t really put my soul into decorating as much as usual.
I’d rather have her here than go over the top for decorations.
Something new!
Tina, your lovely home looks truly magical and festive for the holidays! I hope you have a wonderful celebration with your family. Thank you for sharing your delightful blog!

Love all the faux greens in the ginger jars! You are also inspiring me to plant paperwhites next year.
