Good morning from the frozen tundra of New York  I hope wherever you are, you’re warm and safe. This bitter cold seems to be affecting such a large part of the country. Thought I would share a few snowy pictures starting with the cutest one of all:) These were taken by my boys as the storm was happening….

Wintry weather won’t keep this little snowman and his sled away! (yes I asked immediately where the heck are his gloves- they said he kept taking them off so they went inside)

My sons cat debating on whether it’s worth being outside or not (she decided against it)

Somewhere under there is my sons car!

I receive so many wonderful questions through Instagram messages and emails—about everything from Palmetto Bluff and our renovation to how I started the business, what’s coming up next, and of course, sweet Philip. I do my best to answer as many as I can but plenty slip between the cracks.

I thought it might be fun, once in a while, to do a post like this: ask me anything in the comments, and I’ll respond right here….that way everyone can see it.

Thank you so much for following along. Wishing everyone a cozy, happy weekend!

First of all Phillip is so darn cute. OK two questions-
what is the color of the blue you used in your palmetto office/mudroom?
when are you expecting to move back into your home? really enjoying following along by the way on your instagram account.
Ellen

Hi thank you- color is Beacon Gray by Benjamin Moore and we are really hoping and praying for Dec of this year (latest I hope)! I am ready!

Would love to know what you are planning for spring and summer? I am so ready for the warmer seasons, here in VA its 9 degrees and expecting snow which we are not used to! I want to dream a little, haha!

I hear you- me too, cannot come soon enough! Restocking our best selling wicker urns and pedestals, all cast aluminum urns and pedestals, lots of new planters coming, all new sconce and lampshades, beautiful new wastepaper baskets, embroidered cocktail napkins (like the holiday ones) but summer and spring themes and these fabulous tole ginger jars, and some other wonderful things!

Why did you move into this current house that you are renovating? Your previous house was so beautiful. Did you just need another project or did the new house serve different needs.? Is the new house in the same community as your old house?

Thanks. Hopefully by end of the year, its a very extensive reno. No, we were not looking really to move or for a project but we always admired this house from afar and when it came on (it was with same family for over 50 years) we looked at it just out of curiousity and fell in love. It is a classically beautiful turn of the century home on spectacular property with a dock, pool, tennis, cottage, etc..makes a perfect family compound.

Many years ago you did a post on bed linens, sheets in particular and said you were very picky about them.
I am as well, and have had trouble finding the ones that will make me deliriously happy. Considering that I turn 😯 in April time is running out. A good fit and supreme comfort are key.
I tried Virtuoso by Peacock Alley a year ago and they were so bad I really wonder how that company stays in business.
Anyway I’d love all your wonderful expertise and suggestions. Thanks:)

Thanks so I love Home Treasures, they make a wonderful high quality bedding. I have had sheets from them for years that are still in great shape and super super soft. Bedding is one of those things, I think you kind of get what you pay for (most of the time) I have tried less expensive ones but they are not nearly as good. High end bedding retailers carry them, if you don’t find one, let us know as we have an account. You can email info@enchantedhome.com.

Phillip is a doll baby! I loved your post last Sunday with mock ups of your rooms in the Palmetto home. Each one was so beautiful and worthy of study. I truly could not decide my favorites between any of them. What kind of app or program or AI do you use to do that? Can a regular non tech gal learn to do it for her own future home? Blessings to you and your family.

Hi thanks. It takes a lot of patience I did the pro version of chat gpt but also use a custom program built into our site. Not sure how well the regular chat gpt or other AIs work but you should try it, is can be actually fun to play around with. Have also heard about roomsgpt and homedesignai, both you could check out (more specific to home design)

Hi Tina!

Would you please share the source for the beautiful rug shown in your planned breakfast room showcased in your most recent Renovation Diary post of 1/29/26?

Thanks so much for this opportunity!

Sincerely,

Ellen

Thanks and you are welcome…its a sisal that was found on Decor Market a bit ago. Not sure if they still carry it but you can check! Good luck.

What are your favorite paint colors 1 for indoor……white, grey and blue and
2 for outdoor trims black and dark green
Thank you.
Hugs to Phillip

Whites- i like linen white, alabaster, white dove, swiss coffee and cloud white (all BM)
Blues like Farrow and Ball Borrowed Light, BM Beacon Gray, Nantucket Fog to name a few

sorry not sure about the grays

That snow is crazy! We have 70 today so no complaints over here.Want to say I LOVE hour new house. I have always wanted a big white classic home just like that.
1. Will you keep the black shutters? How much land is it on? the property looks really big
2. What are you doing with your Palmetto Bluff property? I remember you saying you wanted to create a family compound, is that still the plan?

I love following along with your projects, your taste is A+!

I am jealous! Yes will 90% keep the black shutters, may consider a few other colors but think the black is most classic. On about 10 acres. For now, nothing more with PB. We do not get there often enough to do more right now. Plus we are very engrossed in our renovation project. Eventually may expand in PB but or right now our cottage serves us just fine:)

My question is what is your favorite color for interior white? I need to paint two rooms a white in our home. They both get moderate sunlight. I want something warm but not too yellow. Any ideas?

I like Linen White, Cloud White, alabaster, Swiss Coffee, Navajo white to name a few from B.Moore. Cannot stress enough how important it is to do a test patch in YOUR room. Paints can read so differently depending on the light you get. Its worth getting the small sample cans.

I went on a holy grail search of whites with your specs: warm, but not yellowish or pinkish or greyish. Just a wonderful creamy neutral.
Had large 12×18 samples from BM & a few more other brands. Tacked them all up on the wall and moved them around different areas where the light conditions vary. Lived with it for 2 months. The winner? Chantilly Lace by BM. Now, color nuances are very subjective this color was everything I was hoping for. Still is, after 2 years.

This is a fun idea. Love the snow pictures, Phillip takes the cake though- the cutest.

Will you ever get the pagoda dog houses again? I always wanted one but needed a dog, now that I have a 5 month old pup, they are all sold out. I love them!

Also would you ever do a Homeworthy or Potted Boxwood tour of tour home(s)?

Hi congrats and thanks. Yes we will definitely get the wicker dog beds within a few months, the tole ones probably not until closer to summer. You are able to special order however if you know what you want. You can email info@enchantedhome.com

Re house tours, we have been asked by both of these companies, just wrong timing. We were preparing to move from our NY home so we told them when we move back and furnish we would be open to it, might be a while down the road but we will surely consider it! And I don’t feel PB is finished enough, (window treatments, window seats, etc…)

Your new home is so large. I thought you had left your prior home because it was too large. This home looks so much larger. How many square feet is the new home? It’s beautiful!

No its not bigger than our old house but may look like it a its a very long house and is on a flat piece of open property with a long setback. When we bought it, we weren’t really “in the market” to move. It was a house I had long admired that came along after being in one family a very long time, so we went for it! It checked all the boxes for us so it worked out. Last chapter of home building/remodeling/moving!

Good morning Tina,
There is a question I would like to ask; At your last home, the beautiful French one that you sold, where is your beautiful large dining table and chairs? I love that table and chairs! I believe you mentioned it was custom made. By whom please. Thank you

Hi so that set was from EJ Victor who sadly has closed their doors. It was part of their Newport collection. I think if you google you may still be able to find some places that have it or perhaps as a resale. It was super elegant…it was such a shame that they closed, I LOVED their line!

Well this is fun! I am sure I speak for many when I ask- will you ever come out with a book? Please say yes! I am serial design book collector and I just know yours would become a quick best seller!
Second questions- do you still do edesign? We just built a beautiful sunroom and I need help. You helped me with my bedroom years ago and I love it today as much as I did when we worked on it together.
Last, will you do another collaboration with Carolyne Roehm? I love both your styles and own the lily of the valley products you worked on together, then bought a whole set of the blue tulips (I love both sets so much).

Are you going to sell the house you are living in right now once renovation is complete? I like this house from what I’ve seen and I would keep and let that house be my playhouse…..

Hi yes we will be listing this house probably in the summer. Its a beautiful home but much more than we need and way too big for a playhouse, haha. We have made some improvements to it to make it comfortable and hopefully it will land in the hands of the right person/family when that time comes.

I would love to come out with a book…not sure it will happen but it is on my long bucket list. You never know, maybe moving back into our house will spark a renewed interest!
I really don’t do edesign at this time. I love doing it but time is limited, perhaps in the future I can resume, its a lot of fun to help people with their spaces and see them come to life.
So Carolyne and I did come up with a few ideas however the current tariff situation makes it more challenging and more expensive for the sampling/production costs so we are kind of holding off to hopefully if that changes (hopefully soon)! She is a wonderful design partner and what we have done together..I absolutely love and am glad you do too!

No questions, love following you and your posts. Don’t feel too bad about your weather situation, just leaving the Charleston area and heading south…AND ITS SNOWING⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️

Thank you! And be safe..the weather is crazy, snowing in places it has no business in:)

From your Instagrams Of Note examples II know that that there are a wide range of house styles and decors you appreciate. And we all know it is impossible to incorporate it all in one place.

Do you ever feel the need to get a small house somewhere you love just so you could do a major departure from where you generally end up?

We do have a small house in SC which is a perfect small getaway. Easy to maintain and super relaxing. We bought this house however as our “forever home” to enjoy with extended family which God willing will only grow:) Nearly certain NY will always be our home base because our family is here.

That little Phillip is too cute, looks like a little man. I am so excited for your new home.It is so classically beautiful. A white Georgian home with black shutters is my definition of dream home. I love how you are sharing your ideas along the way but am I missing something? I follow you on instagram and never see the updates? I only see them on the blog? Am I doing something wrong?
Questions-
I think you like wall to wall in bedrooms, what brands do you recommend?
Are you keeping the gold wallpaper in the living room? Then you mentioned you were changing it?
Did you decide on a range? I ask because we are starting a kitchen reno in April and I am in the market, looking at several, Lacanche, Ilve, LaCornue, Bluestar and Wolf. Curious if you decided and what made you choose that range?I know you had an Ilve in your old kitchen, were you happy with it?

Thanks Tina, think this format is a great idea as I enjoyed seeing your other responses.

Thank you!I LOVE wall to wall- Stanton and Stark are my two faves
Yes changing the gold wallpaper, its not in great condition, been there a long time, most likely using a Gracie chinoiserie
Almost positive going with Blustare, based upon reviews, speaking to people the sheer cooking power and the big bonus of being able to custom color it!
Ilve- so i loved the look, I would say I would give it a 6-7 on a scale of cooking on it day to day. Wasn’t as powerful as I would have liked and the oven could be finicky. In fairness we bought it maybe 15 years ago so I am sure a lot has changed since then. They are all beautiful ranges in my opinion but it has to do more than look pretty, I want it to be powerful and reliable. I just kept hearing os many good things about Bluestar and visited the showroom, was really impressed.

Hi … Much enjoy your renovation diaries.
-The new slate roof on your home is beautiful! Were reinforcements needed in the walls/construction in order to support the new slate roof?
-Also, noticed the casement window hardware and it appears to be brass … unlacquered brass, antique brass?
Thanks!

I believe it was reinforced, yes. The window hardware I am. nearly certain is antique brass. LOVE unlacquered but don’t think a living finish is the best choice for windows.

I love seeing these personal glimpses of your life, especially the snowy moments! It’s always so interesting to hear about your renovation—what part of it has been the most rewarding so far?

Hmmm..good question. Maybe seeing a big new family area come together, which includes a large kitchen, pantry, family room, etc…the house was built around turn of the century so those spaces were considered off limits for family and day to day living. It will be so nice to have these spaces as i know that’s where we will live. Thank you!

Hi Tina! Btw, I love this format of questions and answers! I haven’t joined Instagram yet so I haven’t seen the questions and answers on there. So maybe my question has already been asked by one of your viewers on Insta but, if so, I haven’t seen it so I’ll ask it here. With all of your love for design and with your obvious design knowledge, I was just wondering if you studied interior design in college or school or if it’s just in your blood so to speak and comes through instinctual work and experience? Also, thank you for all of your delightful and beautiful blogs you share with us! Stay warm in this snowstorm but enjoy Philip in the snow when he’s out there!!!

Thanks for your kind words. The answer is kind of. I did after school and getting married start taking design classes but about 8 months later found out I was pregnant, I did try to continue doing it remote through an online program called Sheffield (I think) but motherhood in the city took over and it fell to the wayside. I always loved it though! I grew up with a mom who always made a point to keep a beautiful home (and it was) full of interstice things and beautifully put together so think that early exposure was the best masterclass of all!

Ok now I can ask away with your permission! I follow you closely but am still confused about these multiple houses. I know that PB is your vacation home but did you sell your original big NY home to eventually live in the larger one you’re renovating? I’m so confuuuuuused…

Ha ha. So we sold our big NY home and bought another big NY home (15 min away) which we are renovating, and hope to move back into late this year.We still own PB as a vacation place.

Hi Tina! Hope this isn’t too late to ask a question! When you sold your large home, did you sell a lot of the furniture with the home or consign? It seems your style is a bit more relaxed in this new remodel than your country French home. Love your style!!
