Hi and happy Sunday. Hope you are well. Got back to the frozen tundra Thursday night, but am not going to complain since it looks like we may get lucky and escape the snowstorm this weekend. Trust me we have enough to last through spring! I couldn’t get over the mounds and mounds of it. Best part was reuniting with precious Phillip.

Hit the ground running, was due to go to a wine party on Friday but we got a stomach bug and last night missed a party. Think I have the norovirus, I have all the symptoms but feeling a wee bit better today.

It is still incredibly cold, this is the first winter that I feel it really getting under my skin. I almost don’t even want to step outside. No amount of layering feels like its enough. I finally understand the full meaning of snowbirds! Though so many southern states are getting hit with record cold, and some, even snow so figure. OK onward to my post today-

1 FUN SEEING OUR PRODUCTS OUT AND ABOUT I get such joy when I see our products out in the wild. Always puts a smile on my face. The first picture are from a dinner for a collaboration wth Aerin and Julia Amory.

The second one used our urns and  pedestals front and center on the stage at the Beacon Hill Design Day, sounds like such fun and would possibly love to attend next year

2 PALMETTO BLUFF HIGHLIGHTS Enjoyed our short trip to PB. This was a little different was my husband was under the weather so we stayed home almost the entire time were couch potatoes, I cooked and it was super relaxing…honestly i think what we both needed (and secretly wanted) The weather was cool, nothing like NY, it got to the mid 50’s (cool for there) but it was crisp and sunny. I just love the energy there….

Two beautiful gifts given to me by visiting friends, the painted oyster shells above and the gorgeous watercolors below

Made a pretty cheeseboard for a few people that stopped by, one thing I love about cooking/prepping in this kitchen is its super bright so pictures come especially pretty.

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST A beautiful random collection of instagrams that caught my eye…

4 AN INCREDIBLE TOUR WITH HEATHER CHADDUCK Love this video…pure eye candy. Heather Chadduck has exquisite taste and someone I really enjoy following. She did not disappoint with the beautiful event that she organized with Schumacher, the annual Antiques in the Garden. What a beautiful event. That would be a good one to put on my bucket list!

5 SNEAK PEEK AT SOME SERIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL SPRING ITEMS COMING THIS WAY! The container coming mid March is a container I am especially excited to receive. We will hold a presale within the next 1-2 weeks on this shipment. This is just a sneak peek at just some of what is coming in…this is one of the best shipments yet and a spring collection I am over the moon about. Stay tuned….

Also getting back in our fabulous lattice sconces in 5 colors!

6 ONE GREAT LAST QUINCE SWEATER I hope this is the last sweater I feel compelled to buy because I am so ready for spring weather! I had a nearly identical sweater by Jenny Kaine which was accidentally washed and shrunk to the point of no return.

So I was thrilled to find a nearly identical one from Quince at a much better price point. Love this silhouette, super flattering, beautiful quality and a lovely assortment of colors. I must say I have loved everything I have bought except for one item which to me, the sizing was off on. This one I would say is true to size and I love it. Click here to see

7 SEVEN ON SUNDAY I’m sure a lot of you can relate to this. Think about going to the hairdresser—whether you’re getting a cut or color. Some stylists are wonderfully intuitive and can sense when you’re not in the mood to chat. Others… not so much.

I’ll admit it—I’m one of those people who doesn’t love conversation in the chair. Ever. I’m not trying to be rude at all; it’s just that once I sit down, I really have no interest in small talk. I either want complete quiet so I can scroll on my phone, or I’ll bring a magazine or a book and happily disappear into it. Or I just want to sit there and do nothing but that invites conversation so that’s off the table.

I am lucky because the girl who’s done my hair for a while comes to my house so haven’t stepped into a salon in a while. Shes on vacation so I went to get my hair trimmed. Walked in,  the stylist was very nice, but every time I lifted my eyes from my book (which I made sure to bring) , he immediately jumped back into conversation. Even when I went right back to reading, he kept trying to talk. It became surprisingly frustrating. Finally, I politely said, “I’m so sorry—I really need to get through this next chapter for my book club,” and I think that finally did the trick.

I know we’re all built different. Some people probably look forward to chatting and socializing during their appointments. I’m just not one of them. Curious—what do you do when you’re not in the mood for small talk?

I don’t like talking to the hairdresser but for a different reason — I want them to totally concentrate on what they are doing to my hair!!

Beautiful spring items, cannot wait! I am over winter too! I do not like making small talk in general so certainly don’t enjoy the “scene” at our local salon. I go always with some reading material and stay fully engaged, if they ask a question I respond with a one or two word reply. They get it. I remember reading an article once and it said its common for people who feel like you and I and it s fine to politely tell a hairdresser “I would like to have some quiet time, its been a hectic week” and that is a polite way to get the point across. I have tried it and it worked well. Stay warm Tina.

PS Would you ever consider doing a post on how to do your cheeseboards? They always look so good, I have yet to master that.

I was a hairdresser 45 years ago. It was short term because I am highly allergic to color and (back then) perm solution. To be honest most hairdressers DO NOT want to talk to their clients but it is good customer service to not ignore them. I am lucky and love to chat with my hairdresser who I’ve been going to for 20 years. But…I too like my privacy and do not talk to people on my daily walk at the park, grocery stores or medical waiting rooms.

I can’t wait for those lattice sconces!! Not sure where I will use them yet, but they are on the menu!!!!!

Those new urns stole my heart! I am planning a bridal shower for my niece in June, will they be here by then? And adore the sconces too. I hate talking to a hairdresser, its a rare time for me to sit with my own thoughts in silence. I have no problem asking for it either, as long as its done respectfully. The garden tour was incredible, what fun. Beautiful instagrams today too.

After almost 20 years, I consider my hairdresser a friend. We enjoy catching up on each other’s families, share recipes and book recommendations. She also has a wealth of knowledge, from all her clients, when it comes to doctors, treatments, and more.

No small talk for me either. Even if I know someone I just like my time alone without having to make awkward conversation. Maybe its a generational thing, I am turning 50. New products are beautiful, the fresh colors are so welcome! The garden event was so spectacular, thank you for sharing that. Your Palmetto Bluff home looks like such a peaceful sanctuary.

I am very outgoing and generally smile at everyone I meet, but I live alone and have not had a romantic partner for 26 years. So when I am at a massage or the hairdresser, I really enjoy the physicality of being touched which usually means I do not want to talk….just enjoy the sensation. Other times I will engage if we have something to catch up on, but I am very honest with her and she respects my mood.

Regarding Quince, I love the quality but find their fit to be large, short and boxy with extremely long sleeves. The sleeves are my biggest issue as they are generally bell shaped and cover my hands making them impractical to work in around the house. I finally hit the jackpot on a ribbed quarter zip that I bought in ivory. Fits perfectly (one size smaller than I normally take) and the sleeves are not the dreaded bell shape!

Hi, for me the fit has been pretty spot on. But I did return one thing where the cut was off and the sleeves were a little long. Everyone is built differently so its important to try on and see if the line is a good fit. I agree its nice to enjoy getting our hair washed, blown out etc….and sometimes that “white noise” from the dryer is all I need to hear!

I find it incredibly rude that you are getting a trim and can’t muster up the decency to find conversation with someone who is serving you? Where has decency gone? What must that poor person think? Are you that much better that you can’t find interest in the human race? Perhaps just gentle kindness and compassion would change the world… one hairdresser at a time! Just my thought. I’ve often been so very thankful for someone who’s taken a few minutes to lend me their time and attention.

With all due respect, I totally disagreed. Being quiet is not rude. Rudeness is how you treat someone, not whether you talk.I am polite, kind and respectful.I am paying for a professional service not a social interaction. This is how I recharge. I am friendly when I arrive, tip well and am polite. In my book, that is totally acceptable and in fact, common.

Bravo Tina! Excellent response to a rude remark. If that person follows your blog, she would know what a kind, wonderful, and compassionate person you are. I have been complimented on my manners all my life, and I prefer to not converse when getting my hair cut. It’s not rude, it’s a quite time to unwind.

My hairdresser is wonderful !! From the time I arrive to walking out the door we chat non stop !!! So each month I look forward to all sorts of “ gossip “”.
And that goes for the marvelous girl where I get my nails done each fortnight. We laugh & chatter & I’m certain others in the salon are either horrified or wanting to “ have what she’s having “ . Yes the only time I open a book is under the dryer.
So I’m wondering ……. Perhaps that those like you , who prefer quiet; are these ladies working ; where you’re talking all day & so a visit to a hair salon or nail salon is your much needed “ quiet time “? Just an unwinding pleasure of peace & solitude ?? I am thinking perhaps that’s the reason behind this much wanted quiet & calm.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I’m blessed by a hair colorist coming to my house and she’s like family. I also go to a very special salon where the team is so nice and i enjoy them. There were times when i had work to do and I would get a quick usage on their families and then shift to work
Mode.

I loved the Antiques in the Garden design and video. Thanks for sharing

Love PB – I live in Charleston and it’s a quick getaway ! Love your shelf coffee table in your PB home … can you share ?

For some reason Im no longer on your Seven on Sunday email list. I Looooooovvvveee Seven on Sunday! Please add me back on your email list. Thank you!

Great post (as usual) The new items are lovely. I love all the soft spring colors.
The video was amazing-what an elegant event. Agree Heather is a talent!

I like quiet when I am getting my hair (or nails) done. I work full time and have 3 young kids at home, when I go out to treat myself, making casual conversation with someone I really don’t know has no appeal to me. I would rather sit in silence and think of things I need to do or focus on. I love that quiet time in the chair.

If someone is super chatty, I may say something really nicely to the effect of I just need some quiet time, I need to focus on something internally. I often will be on the phone or have a magazine handy though. There is no right or wrong- bottom line you are paying for a service so you should do what makes you comfortable.

Tina, where did you get the white pagoda type vases on your island? They have raised decoration. I love the look and the size. Thank you!

One day on a very, very cold day on Madison Avenue I stepped out of my office and looked up at the sky and said “as God is my witness, I will never be cold when I retire”. And today is a very cold day in Naples – 60° – here for the season. One day it will happen to you.😊
