Hi! Hope you are doing well. Over here we got 78 whopping degrees, it felt like we went from winter straight into an early summer day! I love this kind of weather up to about 80, after that I feel like I am wilting. Played pickleball yesterday and it got hot so fast, almost felt like a summer day. Hope it was a fluke and not an indicator of the kid of summer heat coming our way. Otherwise I will start daydreaming about fall:)

So all that to say with the warmer weather, things feel like they are revving up (finally) The front portico is coming along and makes a huge huge difference. It will  be fun to do a before and after. Definitely one of the best decisions we made thus far. So below a few recent pictures along with some other ideas brewing-

Maybe the most exciting thing these last few weeks was seeing most of the staircase put in! Love it.

The c offered ceiling the portico is just about done, we are now looking at large lanterns to hang

This is the attic fully cleared out

Family room

So happy we get to keep this fabulous original door surround.

Covered sunporch, well underway

Looking at sunporch from back patio, I did a little tweaking to see the finished product and this is what I came up with-

I love relics like this, this is part of the original transom…not throwing away, will figure out some way to use it!

OUR SUN ROOM You may remember it from before the reno started. We changed out the french doors but kept the Belgian stores floors which I love. The fireplace is old but charming I may switch out the current tiles with some of the blue/white delft I am getting in.

I played around with the overall feeling I would like it to have and this is what I came up with. I love the idea of comfy couches (probably will order from Lee Industries) and a game table, this room is flooded with sunlight and is a really happy space. I love the idea of going there for morning coffee and using the game table to play games until I am old and gray!

Another room I am excited about is creating a fun bunk room out of one of the guest rooms. Its not a huge room (about 15 x 18) but enough for bunk beds and a bench with toy storage. Anything to entice Phillip to sleep over (and hopefully many more down the road)

So here it is as it stands now-

The pictures make this look narrower than it is

And this what I am envisioning-

Played with two different light fixtures

Of course I love it in the soft blue but I will have a lot of this color throughout the house so I am leaning towards going with the green

It was exciting to get my box in of Delft tile samples from Holland! It was mostly field tiles to pick the right background color and the blues for the design- and I am almost ready to place my order (these will go in kitchen and pantry). Our kitchen and pantry will be coming early Sept, fingers crossed.

These beauties are from Regts, they specialize in both antique tiles, collectibles and new Delft tiles. They ship worldwide.  (click here)

Tina!
Great minds think alike! Grandmothers minds, that is! Your bunk room is also MY exact vision for a bunk room!
Carry on! Happy renovating!

Love seeing the pictures and progress on your home!
What color is the blue paint, with the delft tiles?
Is that going to be the color of your cabinets?

The photos are lovely! It feels as though a weight is being lifted and things are happening!
The porch and bunk rooms are perfect. Everything looks relaxing and restful. I wish I had your attic space, Tina. I envision shelving for easy organization and access.
I’m glad you’re saving the transom. It would be a beautiful focal point on a large built-in cabinet in a butler’s pantry or bar.

Hope you have a blessed Easter!

About bunk rooms: I have seen lately advice on bunk rooms to be careful about the bed design and measurements…. there is a way to leave extra space around the mattress part of the beds in bunk rooms (architects should know how to do this) because without that space making those beds is a constant bashing of your knuckles!! Just mention that to the person responsible for the design of the carpentry! I know you have had a great deal of input and much of the beauty is due to your taste, but can you also please share the name of your architect? the redesign is so beautiful and so in keeping with the original beauty of the home, made for how a family lives today.

Tina, everything is so lovely. It’s so much fun to watch the progress along with you…it’s going to be heaven! Your Sun Room plan is spectacular, and that wonderful bunk room is going to be so much fun for Philip and those to come. I envy all this fun you’re having planning and selecting everything, even though I know it’s a lot of work, too. Have fun, and keep us updated with the progress! Thank you.

I LOVE the notion of green in the bunk room! But then I love green as much as blue. Whatever you choose will be gorgeous. It’s so fun to be updated on your home’s progress!! 💚

Wow really coming along! Your choices are so timeless and classic, love that you are not going with trends. This beautiful home will stand the test of time. Love the fun bunk room, and sunroom. I think the green is wise since as you said you will use a lot of blue elsewhere. Portico looks amazing so far. Would love to know cabinet color (the blue)? Very pretty!
