Hello and happy Sunday! Hope you are having a great weekend. We had dinner plans, went to a beautiful bridal shower, got to see Mr Phillip, celebrated a friends birthday..a full weekend. Today is raining, dreary and a perfect day to stay in. We got in a beautiful shipment on Friday which was very exciting, with the craziness happening in the Strait of Hormuz, many shipments are just sitting in the middle of the sea. Not for the faint of heart! We do have some really beautiful new things newly arrived, coming in and on the horizon.

You can’t imagine how unnerving this is for a business owner investing in containers for them to sit in the middle of the sea for 2 months. So getting this one felt like a jolt of jubilation! With luck two others will soon follow, hoping for next month. Fingers crossed. OK onward to my post this weekend….

1 A STUNNING HOUSE TOUR- AN ELEGANT SOUTHERN HOME WITH A MOODY VIBE. This beautiful home was done by Alison Baker Interior Design. It feels traditional, fresh with a little moodiness which I like. I love all the colored spaces and you know who I love high gloss finishes! I also really like the blues and browns with tan together, think it’s such a rich and elegant combination.  Click here to find out more about this home

2 MY NEWEST FAVORITE PJS You know Petite Plume came out as one of my two favorite brands for soft cozy COTTON pj’s. Petite Plume just came out with a lighter cotton and I am loving them. I love the pima for colder months but these are so incredibly light and comfy for the warmer months ahead. Click here to visit Petite Plume and find out more

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Such a pretty round up of beautiful Instagrams this weekend-

4 MY FAVORITE VERY EASY TERIYAKI SALMON BOWL I make this about once a week. Not only it is  simple, it is so delicious and healthy! My whole family loves it and its almost a  sure way to get my boys home for dinner. These are so easy and really flavorful.

  • Cooked sushi rice ( (use a rice cooker) Has to be sushi rice.
  • Salmon (I slice my filet for individual servings) I will get about a 1.5 lb piece for 3-4 people
  • Teriyaki sauce
  • A few TBSP of rice vinegar
  • Scallions (3-4 sliced thin)
  • 3 garlic cloves (sliced thin)
  • 2 avocados sliced thin
  • 4 kirby cucumbers sliced thin
  • Black sesame seeds (about 2 TBSP)

In a baking sheet line with parchment paper, place fish skin side down, season with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce, add sliced garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Bake about 20 min at 375 degree.

Meanwhile, once almost done, spoon the sushi rice into a bowl (I mix in about 2 TBSP of rice vinegar) and use a spoon to shape it into the bowl, on one side add sliced avocado and on the other the slice cucumbers in center place the fish, add scallions and black sesame seeds over entire dish, and enjoy!

6 THE MADISON Did you watch it? We did and loved it. The scenery just took my break away and I thought Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell were outstanding. It was a beautiful story of love, renewal and new beginnings. Highly recommend, I could see myself watching it again.

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY If you go to someones home for dinner or some kind of gathering, party, etc…do you automatically bring something to the hostess? I always do and assumed this is kind of an unspoken rule. The other day I was invited somewhere in someones home and I was honestly really surprised at how many people walked in empty handed (at least half). While its obviously not mandatory, it just seems like a nice proper thing to do, even if its a small bouquet of flowers, or a small box of candy, a dessert,  am I in the minority?

I always bring something for the hostess or host – just seems like such a small token of appreciation.

Martha Stewart said taking flowers requires the host to stop, find a vase, cut the stems and then fill the vase.
They will feel the dessert needs to be added to the meal and may or may not complement their menu especially if they have prepared a dessert for a particular cuisine. Wine is always better as it can be added easily.

Can you just imagine how “business owners” and sweet Families who love their land will feel when the tyrants of Tehran are overcome and Persia has peace again? The Strait will not be used as a weapon and people will not be slaughtered by their own despotic irrational leaders…then, those people, the young and the old who have been oppressed for 47 plus years will also be “jubilant!” I am not Persian but my doctor’s Mother is there in an apartment with part of the wall missing…my daughter’s best Friend from grammar school has relatives there and her Mother, a famous singer barely made it out. We pray for the Strait to be open too, because sane people will be overseeing it. I love beauty as everyone who follows you does. Persia has long been a purveyor of beauty to the world. 🌹

I agree with Deborah
and have friends from Iran (formerly known as Persia during the good times)
who are so elated that finally, after years of politicians saying one thing
while funding the terror behind the scenes, someone (President Trump)
finally has the courage to do something about the Iran terror machine.
The entire world will be safer, in particular the Middle East.

That salmon bowl looks so good, definitely trying that this week.
I own several pieces of your jewelry they mix so well with my fine jewelry. time to add a few more!

SHOCKED at the comment and could not help but weigh in regarding Trump. A safer world with this diabolical sociopath who has alienated us from THE ENTIRE WORLD? I have never been so terrified for America’s future as I am today under his reign. I hope he will be impeached very soon. He is a danger not only to our great country but to the world at large. He has bitten off far more than he can chew and has resorted to extreme market manipulation as a desperate attempt to offset his gross failures.
I hold an MA in Islamic Studies from Columbia and the history of Persia is long, complex and quite fascinating. He does not understand Iran. He has chosen to resort to symbolic references likes the hostage crisis, as the foundation of his policy. He is clueless and his cabinet is no better. I could go on and on, but anyone who thinks this dangerous madman is doing AMERICA a service is sorely mistaken. This will go on for a very long time.I know many, many Persians (we are in Los Angeles, California) and nearly all echo what I say above.
Sorry Tina, I had to add my 2 cents!

As Miss Holly Holden (who was raised with proper Southern manners) – Secrets To Lovely Living once said; It is most important and proper etiquette to always bring a small gift to the host/and or hostess. It doesn’t need to be food, wine or even flowers. Maybe just a small personal item. And NEVER bring your own food without FIRST asking the hostess if you could help her with her menu! That’s just pain rude! Bring wine, but with the understanding the hostess is under not obligation to serve it that night. Flowers are an ideal gift but once again, ask the hostess FIRST what her theme color is and if you could bring the flowers for her table centerpiece. One less chore for her to do. It’s about consideration and proper manners.

The house featured is absolutely stunning! Never did I think I’d be attracted to such design but literally gasped at the foyer wallpaper! And it only got better from there. Thank you Tina!

The house tour was so pretty, that kitchen is gorgeous. The salmon bowl looks so good too, need to try that one. Always love your recipes.
I always bring something to someone’s home, normally a box of cookies or flowers. I would never ever go empty handed. I love receiving flowers and always have a few vases on standby so all I need to do is unwrap them and put them in! I sure hope your shipping issues get rectified soon. Cannot imagine how stressful that must be for a business owner.

When I go to someone’s home for a brunch, lunch, dinner or a small gathering I like to bring something to my friend. A little “Thankyou” goes a long way. Lately, I have been bringing a quiche for the Hostess to enjoy, put in the fridge and heat up the next morning. (This has been a big hit). OR a box of tea and scones to heat up for the next day. (This has been a big hit as well) Both these items can be put in the freezer and taken out to enjoy when they please. I feel it’s the least I can do. They have graciously invited me to their home and I feel I am not going out to a restaurant spending money on drinks and food that would cost $40 plus dollars. I appreciate the time and generosity my friend has extended.

Petite Plume is the best ever…The Madison fantastic performances by every actor. Ms Pfeiffer shows us how to age gracefully —no nip/tuck

I always bring a gift to the hostess (a pack of notecards, a small decoration for the home, a candle, or a bottle of wine) unless it is a pot luck. Then It is usually a bottle of wine and whatever dish we are contributing.

Hostess gifts… would love to see a post where you link ideas from being invited for cocktails to staying for several nights at someone’s house. I typically bring items that get used up because we are in our 60s and I feel like so many don’t people don’t want more stuff at this stage in life. Wine, chocolates, or an orchid are my go-to but could use some fresh ideas. Our most recent house guest brought us a Williams Sonoma apron, monogrammed rubber spatula, and sea salt from France and I really liked them.

When my boys were young, even if they were only going to a friend’s home to play video games, they walked in with a least a bag of chips!

I cannot imagine walking into someones home with something! A bottle of wine (if they drink) a dessert, a book I know they would love always shows you put thought into it and sometimes a candle. But always something!
The salmon bowl looks really good, even something I could probably make I am the worst cook! I am looking for new pjs so your recommendation came at a good time. I used to love some that Nordstrom did private label but they changed and the quality is inferior. Also very much enjoyed The Madison no violence, noting explicit- just a beautiful story

I agree with Deborah at 10:33 a.m. and Amjean. However, please refrain from allowing political posting on this site, or I am done. I come here to escape not to be reminded of the horror we are living through.
