Good morning. Today holds so many emotions. On the joyful side, it’s my Peanut’s birthday! We are so incredibly proud of the man he is becoming, and today we celebrate him and all the happiness he brings into our lives. Happy birthday to our Peanut!
At the same time, today is also a solemn day of remembrance. I still get chills thinking about the morning of September 11th andcan remember so many frightening moments as that fateful morning unfolded. As a New Yorker, it will always hit especially close to home. The 9/11 Memorial museum is something to behold. If you cannot visit in person, you can learn so much by clicking here to their website.
Today, we honor all the lives that were lost, thefamilies who never got the chance to say one last goodbye, and the countless people whose lives were forever changed. We also remember the extraordinary unity, strength, and resilience that emerged during one of our darkest times. We will never forget.
And because I want to end the week on a lighter note, this week’s random musings are very heavily design-focused—because, truthfully, design has been about 95% of my life lately! Between my design project in the city and the renovation of my own home, nearly every waking moment has been devoted to one or the other.
The few little breaks I’ve managed to sneak in have felt especially coveted—even something as simple as a quick trip to my local farm stand feels like a mini vacation these days:)
So, without further ado, here’s a little glimpse into life lately and what the past week or so has looked like…

Took this picture yesterday, it gives me chills as it reminds me so much of 9/11, 25 years ago- the sky was a vivid bright blue, what a surreal day that we will never forget
Love the Parisian bistro vibes that are being seen more often at NYC restaurants/cafes
Never met a farmstand tomato I didn’t want to take home with me and several did to make my yummy brushetta!
On the homefront….we have columns!! And below first trim samples going up….
Our foyer aka the storage room (for now) but beyond the dust and mess, I see a vision
Moving onto NYC, this project is really turning out so fabulously…this powder oom is a dream!
Gone is the bright green and hellooooo to a lacquered creamy white!
This girls room is the stuff dreams are made of!
And the boys room is coming along so handsomely!
Trim work and paint prep in the living room
Lots of fabric and trim playing happening..decisions are being made and it will be such fun to watch these spaces really come to life!

Then stopped into the new NYC Visual Comfort store, lots of pretty things

September 11, 2001 is a day I will never forget, my husband was an American Airlines pilot. He was flying a trip that day and we knew one of the planes that hit was American Airlines. Not knowing where that flight originated and knowing my husband was airborne our daughter went to school not knowing if her Dad was alive or dead. After several hours we heard from him and I called the school to let them know he was ok. They sent our daughter a note saying Dad landed and he is alright. To this day, she has kept that note and is now 41 years old. It is a day none of us should ever forget, I know I won’t.
This is a very inappropriate column for 9/11. To begin a post with Peanuts when 9/11 is such a tragic day in our history shows the insincerity of the author..
