Hello and happy Sunday! We are having  wicked weather this weekend, lots of wind and rain. Braved the elements last night and spent an hour and a half getting to a wedding in a nor’easter. It was surely an adventure:) But once we got here, it was a lot of fun and love took over the night:)

A great day to stay indoors and make another batch of my soup! Might be playing pickle ball later which I always look forward to, great stress reliever. And if not I will delve into watching home tours and maybe start a new series on TV. A perfect day to engage in anything that relaxes me before the busy work week begins all over again:) And this week is extra busy coming up. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. OK, onward to my post today-

1. LOOK WHAT’S COMING BACK FOR THE HOLIDAYS!! Many of you have been asking so I am very excited to announce that we will get our incredibly beautiful hand painted chinoiserie tole  tree collars back!

We introduced these beauties late last year and we sold out almost immediately. These will be here between late Oct- first week of Nov. We listened to what you had to say and some found the size from last year too small, so we have increased the size and this size should fit nearly all tree stands. Cannot wait! They really elevate both the tree and the room they are being used in.

2. A WONDERFUL HOUSE TOUR I had seen Meg Braff’s house tour a years ago but forgot how wonderful it is. Such an elegant, inviting home with the unexpected twist of a lot of green but she sure maks a beautiful argument for it! I thoroughly enjoyed this extensive house and ground tours and think you will too.

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Always so much beauty to share, I could literally jump into this first one!

4 THE BEST PASTA FAGIOLE SOUP Forgot how absolutely delicious this is!I made this a few days ago and enjoying the very last of it. It is SO good, super satisfying and could qualify as a meal with a little crusty bread on the side. Freezes well too, I am a huge soup person and make it almost year round but really step up my soup game in fall/winter.

Only thing I did not include on the recipe card is it optional to add 1/4 of cream or half an half if you like a creamier soup. It tastes great both ways!

5. INSPIRED BY THIS NEW LANTERN. I love this lantern so much and really taken with this new color, the softest prettiest green, a brand new color for us. These just came back in stock last week…finally! We offer them in 4 colors but I can’t get this one out of my mind, so much so that I am determined to find a perfect spot in our home for it, thinking maybe a powder room, guest bedroom or my office.

Then I paired it with this paper from Sister Parish that I have had my eye on for a while,  I played around with some ideas… needless to say I love them all and you will be seeing it somewhere in my house…

6 THE FIRST TWO COATS I HAVE ORDERED FOR FALL AND WINTER! I am so excited over both of these. Leopard is really big this year. I do not typicality follow trends but I have for years,  incorporated small amounts of leopard, it could be a scarf or a pair of slingbacks, a touch of it can be really chic. When. I saw this retro inspired coat from Frances Valentine I had to have it. I think its so good looking and could see it dressed up or down, I see it with an all black or all cream outfit. Love thee stand up faux fur collar too. Anything reminiscent of the 60’s  like so much of her line really resonates with me.

Then I saw this one and gasped. it was love at first sight, from Reformation. This fabrics are so stunning and love the cut, my favorite coat for a jacket or coat. It comes in two gorgeous color options. The gold is reversible to a cream shearing and the silver toned is a brocade. So so beautiful! Love that they are not too heavy and perfect fro fall into winter, could easily be layered with a big warm scarf. A perfect going out coat if you ask me.

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY Today I am talking about sleep. Something I do get nearly enough of. As you get older, you do sleep less, wake up more during the night and certainly wake up earlier in the morning. For me falling asleep is never an issue- stay asleep is another story. I really don’t like to rely on taking anything for sleep. Especially since reports are coming out about how some meds like Ativan, Ambient can increase chances of dementia.

I have tried magnesium and melatonin and  but neither really worked for me.but just ordered Magnesium Threonate . Praying for a miracle! How would you rate your sleep? And of course if you have discovered something to help you sleep through the night- I am all ears!

I have always loved and looked forward to your posts especially Seven On Sunday. You make my day and I smile when I read them. I wish my life had been as much as yours has been. You are very special Tina and very talented.

Yes, nasty weather here on Long Island. Love the lantern. It appears a light blue in the photos as does the wallpaper. I would love to see the “true” color.
The leopard coat is stunning! I purchased a red coat years ago with leopard lining. It is one of my favorite coats to wear during the Christmas season.
Stay dry!

I’ve had Restless Leg Syndrome for 30 plus years. A devastating condition, that in itself, can cause dementia and heart issues. (Which makes sense) So I have tried everything out of desperation over the years. Thankfully, I am retired now, and if I can’t sleep AT ALL at night I can go back to bed. But a terrible waste of a good day. 😩

This reply is for SueAnn. My Mom suffered from restless leg syndrome as well. My concern that you might find this helpful has prompted me to post this rather unorthodox remedy. It worked for my Mom. She would place a couple of her large sterling silver serving spoons into a cotton sock, secure the end so the spoons don’t fall out, and then place it in the bed with her at night. And place it as close to your legs as you can. It worked! I hope it helps you SueAnn.

Love the magnolia collection, it’s such a classic way of decorating, especially for the holidays!

My husband and I both struggle with sleep (we’re in our mid-60s). We’ve had success with taking one-half of the Costco “sleep aid” pill. It helps us stay asleep, and since we only take half a pill, we don’t have much grogginess the following day. Worth a try, and good luck! The sleep struggle is real!

One of your best Sunday posts ever! I LOVE the tree collars, sign me up. The coats are fabulous i think I need to order the leopard for an early birthday gift to myself. Every recipe I have tried of yours I love- would you ever do a cookbook?
That lantern is so pretty, would you ever consider allowing someone to order it in a custom color? It would be so pretty for my garden room but I need a specific color green. I just started to take ambien, I try to only take it when I really need a solid rest as I hate feeling dependent on it, but with my job being well rested is a must. I am only 58 but my sleep. has gone downhill every since I turned 50:(

I use to brag about how well I slept. Then I had a complete hysterectomy and now I don’t sleep. I am on HRT but it needs to be adjusted and found out my ferritin is extremely low and testosterone. Seeing a specialist about all of this. Can’t wait to get back to where I was and I won’t brag this time.

For quality sleep, you might want to read Dr. Andrew Huberman’s newly released book, PROTOCOL.

The gorgeous FV Leopard coat is on my short list also! Heading to a boutique in Boston tomorrow to try it on!

Your soup recipe sounds great but are you sure it only calls for 2 cups of beef broth? That is very little liquid for all the remaining ingredients!!

Tina, this works for me but it’s not for everyone. About 90 min. before bed I take 3 g glycine powder in warm milk, then about 30 min before bed a take 1/2 tsp of clean baking soda in warm water. Try not to eat 3-4 hrs before bed. Works well for me at 66. Also I’ve read magnesium glycinate works well for relaxation before bed.

You might consider a small dose of Amitriptyline for sleep. Old med, but it works for lots of people.

Beautiful post as usual. Love the tree collars and pictures! I do have to comment on the soup recipe, though. Both of my Italian grandmothers made the traditional Pasta fagiole and it literally only had pasta and beans and of course other flavorings such as garlic, hot pepper flakes, maybe celery and onion etc depending on what they had on hand but never ever meat of any kind. They also soaked dried beans which makes a world of difference, It was made as a staple Friday meal when we couldn’t eat meat. Your soup looks delicious but I would have to give it a different name. Just saying… ; )

I ordered 2 of the small blue ceramic pumpkins a month or so ago . Think it was a preorder since they had not come into the warehouse yet . I was wondering when I could expect delivery.
