Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful weekend. The slightly cooler fall weather is finally making its way in, and I am loving every minute of it!
I officially wore my first sweaters of the season, which made me very happy! You all know how much I adore fall, and this is such a beautiful time of year. Interestingly, there’s been very little change in the foliage so far. It seems the leaves are taking their sweet time turning this year!
I had a fun little trip to Vermont planned, which unfortunately had to be canceled after being sick for the better part of last week. I’m still holding out hope that I might somehow squeeze in a quick getaway next week to catch the tail end of the beautiful fall foliage. We shall see!
I finally started feeling a little better a couple of days ago, only to be greeted by a rather overwhelming mountain of work waiting for me. Isn’t that always the way? I’m trying to pace myself, as I’m still dragging a bit and dealing with this lingering cough. Hopefully, within the next few days, I’ll be completely back to my old self.
In the meantime, there’s certainly no shortage of things to do, and as they say, no rest for the weary! I’m slowly but surely making my way through it all, one thing at a time.
Okey-dokey, enough of my rambling! Onwards to this Sunday’s post. Hope you enjoy it, and wishing everyone a beautiful, relaxing fall Sunday!
1 VANITIES IN THE MAKING I have been working with Rail and Stile to do all our vanities and so farI am overjoyed with the progress I am seeing and wanted to share it. I cannot recommend them highly enough, they can do anything and love that they are built by hand in North Carolina. They have been a joy to work with and very patient in helping me execute what I have dreamed up. Here are a few progress pictures, so exciting. Next time I will hopefully be showing some painted versions on my next Renovation Diaries post.
Click here to visit Rail and Style in case you are in the market for vanities, chests, and so much more. There is little they cannot do, tell Kelly Tina sent you:)
I have my eye on this table for a game table, love it!
These are the custom pieces we did for my NYC client, we did them in this beautiful lacquer color to match the room.
There is little they cannot do, I showed her a picture of a beautiful desk that is no longer made and they are duplicating it to perfection!Had this gorgeous desk made, waiting for it to be painted.
2. A WONDERFUL HOUSE TOUR I have followed Cortney LaCorte aka The Cheese Gal (with that name, I was an immediate fan) for a year or so and love her recipes and “couch snacks”. She came out with a wonderful user friendly cookbook.
She has such an inviting, warm energy so it was no surprise that her home exudes that same feeling. It is elegant, inviting and beautiful. My biggest takeaway was how much she really loves her home. I love when I see that. And I could totally relate to her love to stay home. As I have gotten older, quite contrary to how I used to be, I love it too!
3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Such a beautiful roundup, always inspired….
4 A TRIED AND TRUE RECIPE FOR THE SWEET TOOTH LOVER You can thank me later, found out about these a few months ago. These are so easy to make and so so good…plus 3 ingredients! They do not last long. I have been told you can also substitute coconut with oats, going to try that variation next time…
5 DID YOU KNOW THAT AMAZON PRICES CHANGE BY THE HOUR? This was news to me. I had ordered this great laminated waterproof personalized travel bag. They were 18.99 though it say 16.99 (confusing). Went to order a few for gifts a few days ago. It showed the correct price on the listing until I got to checkout then it was suddenly 29.99! This was infuriating and enlightening. Amazon’s AI said prices fluctuate..that is crazy! So, I am going to do a little experiment and see when it goes back down. I truly never knew this and feel all the wiser for it now. But then read below what happened-
Silver linings- Then I found another one, which is the same and the price did not change for this one so I promptly ordered 3 for gifts. These are really great, perfect for travel. There are many shops that sell these for $75 and up. Hope the price doesn’t change:) These make amazing gifts. And these were even less…$16.99. So a happy ending!
6 INA HAS A NEW PODCAST! I stumbled across this and was so happy to see she has started a podcast, Happy Hour. To me, she feels like a warm hug and though I have only listened to one episodes, so far I really like it.I think it will be a hit! I loved seeing Nathan Lane as her first guest, I can’t help but think of my beloved my mom, one of her favorite. movie was The Birdcage. So funny, he was incredible in it!
7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY OK, so imagine this. You are having a get together, you tell everyone 7pm. Someone shows up at 6:50. Thoughts? What about someone who shows up right at 7 on the dot. To me, about a 10-15 min grace period after 7 is about right. I have been in both these scenarios (as a hostess) and let me tell you- I may sound snarky but I do not like when someone shows up early, throws me off my game! Even right on time, I just kind of expect everyone to be there within about 15 minutes of specified time. I follow that rule as a guest as well. Curious as to your thoughts…
And that’s what I have for this Sunday. Hope you enjoyed my post and you know I always love to hear from, especially if anything resonated. Thanks for stopping by, wishing everyone a wonderful day! Until next time….
TODAY STARTS OUR COLUMBUS DAY SALE WHERE WE HAVE AN EXCITING TIERED DISCOUNT, SPEND MORE SAVE MORE!
Thank you for introducing me to the Homeworthy shows. They are my new “mind candy” and so much more pleasant than the news these days. My favorites so far have been Bunny Williams and Rebecca Vizzard, the Louisiana textile designer.
The vanities are gorgeous! I am keeping their name, we are building a home, far away from ordering vanities but hopefully by spring.
the makeup bags are so cute, i need! My husband LOVES coconut, may surprise him and make the cookies. HATE when anyone shows up early, its a big no no in my book.
I once had a male guest (his wife was not able to attend) arrive ONE HOUR EARLY! My husband was not able to answer the door. So I had to do so, despite the fact that I had not yet put on party clothes, done my hair, or put on makeup. The guest did not know to say, “Oh I am so sorry, I have an errand I needed to run anyway so I will come back a little later.” Instead, he told me that his wife had given him the wrong time and then he stood there at the door, waiting to be let in. I invited him in and showed him to the bar, telling him to help himself. My husband and I were a bit surprised but it all worked out and he sat by himself while we attended to the last minute details.
When having a get together, you need to remember a few things.
1. They are there to be with you, not see your home or even care much about the food.
2. Things happen that can delay people ie traffic, an accident. They are your friends…go wiith the flow. They finally got there, that’s all that counts.
3. People getting there early? Again they are there for you not what you can get done in the 15 minutes before. Relax, give yourself some grace and have fun!
People are not familiar with Etiquette. It is absolutely proper to show up 10- 15 min after invited arrival date. This gives the host and hostess time to make sure everything is in order and to take a breath. If you think it is ok to arrive early maybe you don’t entertain. It does throw the rhythm off when guests arrive early. And please don’t bring flowers that need water.
Don’t come early!!! So hard on the hostess, just drive around the block until it’s a “ few minutes after “!
And I LOVE flowers, but unless they are from the florist in a beautiful vase, please no!!! More stress on a busy hostess!!!

If you like Homeworthy, the Potted Boxwood has great shows, too. Also on YouTube. Beautiful homes.
Intrigued by the recipe posted. Just not a huge lover of banana flavoring. How dominant is the flavor? Than you. Love your blog.
