Good Sunday morning from a dreary, rainy New York! There’s actually something kind of nice about a rainy Sunday—the kind of day when you don’t feel the least bit obligated to be out and about.
I’ve already resigned myself to the fact that this is going to be a lazy Sunday at home, and I’m perfectly happy about it. Pickleball was canceled, which may have been a blessing in disguise, even though I was looking forward to playing. We’re definitely excited for the men’s final of the U.S. Open today, and later, Mr. Phillip is coming over for a sleepover…so there’s plenty to look forward to!
I feel like a broken record saying this, but it has been an insanely busy summer. Between work and everything else, there hasn’t been a whole lot of downtime, which makes a quiet Sunday like this feel especially sweet.
It’s hard to believe summer is pretty much over, even if officially we still have another week or so on the calendar. No complaints here, though—fall is my absolute favorite season, and I love everything about it. I’m more than ready!

1 WHATS COMING UP FOR THE Holiday S OVER HERE….. Here is a sneak peek on what’s on tap for the holidays! We will be getting in our best selling rechargeable lamps with all new velvet fall/winter colors!
Our ornaments are coming back along with some new styles and collections and we will be getting int he prettiest, most festive embroidered holiday cocktail an napkins and dinner napkins!
This definitely gets me in the mood for the holidays!
2 TRIM! Oh how I love trim, if you have ever stepped inside Samuel and Son, the eponymous trim sotre to end all trim stores, you know what I mean. Have been on a trim hunt for my NYC project and had such fun delving into their world of unmatched beautiful trims.
This first one caught my eye for my own house, coming in Oct….what a beauty! Love it for a chair or on the leading age of solid dupioni drapes.
4 A FUN HOUSE TOUR This was such a fun and cozy house tour, I have followed Babs for a year or two so seeing this home was so nice to see, the vibe of the house matches her warm and inviting personality to a tee. It was fun to learn more about her, how she began and how she discovered her wonderful old historic home. Love the lattice breakfast nook and love the cozy, beautiful kitchen and delft tiles of course.
I am forever grateful to her for her amazing Shrimp Saganaki recipe which I have made many many times. She feels like a warm hug and so does her home.Love it!
5 GREEK ORZO I have posted this before but it bears repeating, it is so so good. I brought it someone’s house the other day and it was a huge hit. If you are lucky enough to have some left for the next day, it is every bit good cold too! Easy and so so delicious. Happy you are enjoying this new format of my recipe sharing…
6 STUNNING NEW AND AFFORDABLE CASHMERE SWEATERS! I am so excited fall is just around the corner, I live for fall. Then when Christmas rolls around, I use your blogs as references to buy gifts and fill stockings. My daughter has the same tastes as you. So I know she will always be pleased. In fact, she buys quite frequently from Quince due to my first hearing about the company here on your blog. So thank you very much for all your insights.

Like you, I am savoring this rainy quiet Sunday! Living on the Cape, I have had a steading stream of house guests since Memorial Day. This is the first Sunday I can remember not having someone here or have somewhere to go! Totally agree with you about Bab’s Basket House-what a joy it is!
Thanks for observing that. Actually I normally do not add the onion anymore *forgot to take it off the ingredient list. I found it made little difference, but surely you can use it either way!
In my working life I was a seamstress for a designer. Samuel and Sons were the most beautiful trims. Sometimes a challenge to apply but always beautiful
