Good morning everyone! Hope you’re doing well. Unfortunately, I’ve been home sick for the last few days. I was convinced I had Covid because I lost my sense of smell and taste, but thankfully both testswere negative. I’m feeling slightly better, but still dealing with a pretty bad cough, so I’m giving myself one more day of rest and hopefully I’ll be back on track. Getting a dose of cabin fever, especially when my favorite fall weather is in full gear, such tease to not be outdoors.

Of course, this happened during a week when I had SO much going on—2 city installations/deliveries for my design job, plenty of things to review at our house,  a fun design event in Darien, a friend’s birthday dinner…had to miss it all. What do they say about the best-laid plans?

What I did manage to do was become a complete slug for three days and watch a marathon of home tours on YouTube. Needless to say, I now have about a million ideas swimming through my head! I also watched a few good documentaries, so I suppose my time on the sofa wasn’t entirely wasted.

I’m slowly starting to envision decorating our new house, even though we’re still quite a ways away from that stage. But it’s always fun to dream!

One room I especially love is a cozy breakfast room. I’m not quite sure what direction we’ll go in yet, so I started playing around with some very different ideas—and thought this would make a fun “Which Would You Choose?”

So, imagine one of these had to be YOUR breakfast room. Which would you choose? Pick your top three favorites…and here we go-

OK now which vibe is your favorite, where could you imagine having your morning coffee? It was a tough choice for me, but 5, 6 and 1 ended up being my faves. Will be fun to see which comes out on top, time to choose your three favorites.

I’m going to need a mixture of Choice 3 and Choice 4 – I LOVE a banquette, but I also want to live in horse country where I can see those beautiful thoroughbreds outside my window!

I have to have plenty of morning light streaming across my breakfast table. I’d go for a banquette so I could stretch out with a second cup of coffee and watch the dew-kissed flowers glisten in the sun.

I will take choice 7 for my apt and choice 6 for my country house;-) Thanks for the reminder that my own breakfast room needs a little makeover. I actually love them all!

Tina,
The prettiest breakfast room I have ever seen is in Hillwood House in Washington, DC. The former home and now museum of Marjorie M Post. I hope you can visit it someday.
