MY USUAL SEVEN ON SUNDAY POST WILL GO OUT TONIGHT INSTEAD OF THIS MORNING (INTERNET GLITCHES)!

Hello. Hope you are doing well. Feel like I haven’t’ done a reno update in a while…but things are chugging along!

I would say the last five to six months have probably been the least exciting and least glamorous part of this renovation, simply because so much of the work has been behind the scenes. It’s been all about the guts of the house—plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and all of the things that aren’t especially exciting to look at but are so essential.

Only over the last couple of months has the house really started to take shape with insulation and sheetrock. The entire house is now officially sheet rocked, which feels like a major milestone and a very exciting turning point. Window casings are now being installed throughout the house, and I’m at the point where I need to start making some fairly quick decisions on all of the bathroom materials, which is exactly what I’m working on now.

One of the things I’m most excited about is that our front portico columns have finally arrived! They’ll be installed sometime next week, and once they’re in place, the remainder of the façade and roof can finally be completed.

A lot of people ask when we expect to move in. For a while, everyone was saying December, but I’m mentally preparing for January. If it happens sooner, it will  be a wonderful surprise. Anyway, here’s the latest…..

future kitchen looking into breakfast room

The reeded flat columns have been added to the facade of the house (there are 2 more) then the coulumns will soon be placed where the metal beams are

And we have window casings!

Our carpentry guys are great, we are keeping as much of the original moldings and they are replacing panels where they need to

Staircase sheetrock just about done!

The original delft file on fireplace in family room…debating to swap them out to blues and whites.

Our storage room of the doors we are keeping. The corner niche is original and will remain, I love it.

Have you ever just fallen madly in love with a fabric or textile and knew you had to have it? Well, that’s what happened with this fabric. It was love at first sight. I am waiting on the sample but feel confident I will love it as much when it arrives. I am thinking this just may be the starting point that I didn’t know I needed for the  master bedroom. Just love love love these colors and the pattern.

We have been busy working with Regts out of Amsterdam on the delft tiles i will use for the kitchen and pabtry. I cannot tell you how wonder they. have been to work with (and super patient) sending me many renderings and options) This week I pull the trigger on the tiles. If you re ever in the market for fabulous authentic delft tiles, Regts is your place (click here to find out more about them)

The world of stone and marble has grown unbelievably..its actually overwhelming. Thankfully I. know what I love and am able to hone right in on what I love and I found so many beautiful choices. Many of these, are definite and with luck you will see them in some of our bathrooms down the road.

Keep the original fireplace tiles —they are beautiful and keep that space from mirroring your kitchen. Delft for kitchen and pantry but not in the family room—too much, and the uniqueness of the family room fireplace needs to be kept

Oh I agree, Keep the beautiful tiles ! What a conversation piece they are , and they give you lots more colors to work with in the fabrics you choose for the family room.

I’ve been following but still confused; are you flipping this house and moving back to your old one when it’s done? You’re doing 2 renos, right?

No question as to leaving the original tiles on the fireplace. Changing them out to look like your kitchen is a definite no. The colors in the original and patterns are unique and will allow you to blend so many colors within the room. Just like upright fabrics, use the tile as a jumping off point.
The fabric colors and patterns are beautiful!

Although they are lovely tiles when you look at the fireplace those tiles are far too “ busy “. I would replace them. However I’d keep some & perhaps you can have them placed on top of a wine trolley ? A tray ? I’m sure you’ll find a spot where these can be repurposed ? Far too lovely to toss in a bin !!

I think changing to the blue and white tiles feel more like you. I would move the existing tiles to another spot in the house to pay homage to its history. And I agree with other comment saying they are a bit busy. But thank you so much for sharing your Reno journey- I love these posts!!! Your house will be gorgeous!!

What about using the tiles in a bedroom fireplace? Do you have one in the master? Or a little granddaughters bedroom ( you are sure to have one in the future ). It is such fun keeping up with the progress. Thank you for sharing and asking for opinions!

I truly hope you decide to keep the original tiles around the family room fireplace, they are absolutely beautiful and not at all “too busy”. There is too much history with them, they are just so special to the historical part of the home! Everything you’ve chosen is just gorgeous!!

When we built our house and picked out tile for bedroom , I chose English tile, Menton. When we moved I wanted to take those tiles . You have found some beauties! I hope you planned on an elevator. Toward back of the house. You won’t be sorry

Following up on Patrice: Are you flipping this house, then moving back to old house, so managing two Renos simultaneously….?
Definitely agree with Cindy J., Hope there is an elevator somewhere. There are a lot of stairs! You may not need it now, but someday……
Beautiful reno and I enjoy following along!

They sold their French Manor house. Tina has said several times, that this house is their “forever” home.

PLEASE keep the tiles on the existing fireplace.
They remind me so much of your beautiful talent of flower arranging.
It is an ode to you.

Please keep the original tiles! They’re gorgeous; love the blue and white for the kitchen, but let these shine and the fireplace not be a “duplicate” of the kitchen.

What great progress. Such a grand and elegant home already! LOVE the fabrics for your bedroom, dreamy!

All the tiles are beautiful too, nothing beats marble.

Re fireplace, i would go with the crisp blue/white delft tiles. Maybe considering doing antique delft? These feel busy to me and though the colors are pretty feel it will not work with your aesthetic. Just my two cents:) It’s fun to follow along.

They sold their French Manor house. Tina has said several times, that this house is their “forever” home. I agree about the fireplace tiles. They are lovely, but don’t really seem to be Tina’s esthetic. I think lovely blue and white tiles, not delft, would be a better fit.
Also, can you imagine her future granddaughter’s room? You know she will have one, and it will be fit for a princess! A pink dream for sure.

Beautiful progress! I am not fond of the tiles, the colors do not feel right for the vision you have shown us so far. Maybe you can preserve them and use them on a few tile trays? Sometimes people get so hung up on “preserving” something that maybe is just not appropriate for the new life you are giving this space. I think blue/white delft is the way to go!

Love the bedroom fabrics.

I would go blue and white for the fireplace. With the original tiles I would have some framed as art and placed in your glasshouse.

Love all the progress, how exciting to follow along! Such a beautiful home, Tina. I love all your marble choices and of course Delft for the win! I wold personally carry it over to the family room fireplace. I think whats there looks dated, you can have those tiles removed and used in another way as many have suggested. Go with your gut. You are the blue and white queen!
I hope you will share with us when you start going to look at slabs, we are about to do that ourselves and I find the process so overwhelming. Have you picked out a marble you want for your countertops yet? Love these fun posts.

Yay, finally reaching the visible stages after all that boring behind-the-scenes infrastructure work! Getting all the sheetrock done feels like such a huge milestone, I can’t wait to see the new front portico columns installed next week.

I would have the tiles to ones that you truly love and if that means changing definitely do it otherwise you will always be looking at them and thinking I wished Id changed.
